शिव बटालवी को क्यों कहते हैं बदनाम शायर ?

शिव कुमार बटालवी यानी पंजाब का वह शायर जिसके गीत हिंदी में न आकर भी वह बहुत लोकप्रिय हो गया. उसने जो गीत अपनी गुम हुई महबूबा के लिए बतौर इश्तहार लिखा था, वो जब फ़िल्मों तक पहुंचा तो मानो हर कोई उसकी महबूबा को ढूंढ़ते हुए गा रहा था. शिव कुमार बटालवी के गीतों में ‘बिरह की पीड़ा’ इस कदर थी कि उस दौर की प्रसिद्ध कवयित्री अमृता प्रीतम ने उन्हें ‘बिरह का सुल्तान’ नाम दे दिया.
नौजवान विधार्थी शिव कुमार को पढ़ते हैं. पहले शिव कुमार के गीत शादियों-विवाहों में औरतें ख़ूब गातीं थीं. शादियों में ढोलकी बजाते हुए महिलाएं इतराते हुए गीत गाती थीं, ‘मैनूं हीरे-हीरे आँखे नी मुंडा लंबड़ा दा…जब हिंदुस्तान का बँटवारा हुआ, उस वक़्त शिव कुमार बटालवी की उम्र महज़ दस साल थी. विभाजन के बाद उनके परिवार को पाकिस्तान के पंजाब से उजड़कर भारत के हिस्से रह गये पंजाब में आकर बसना पड़ा.
लेकिन अब 70 साल बाद भी उनकी शायरी के निशां अदबी पंजाब के साथ-साथ संगीत की दुनिया में फ़हरा रहे हैं.शिव कुमार बटालवी विभाजन की हिंसा के गवाह रहे हैं और उन जुर्मों का दर्द उनके क़लामों में दर्ज है. ये दर्द सरहद के दोनों पार के लोगों का साँझा दर्द रहा है तो शिव कुमार सरहद के किसी एक तरफ़ का शायर नहीं हो सकता.
23 जुलाई, 1937 को पाकितान के बारापिंड में पैदा हुए शिव कुमार बटालवी ने अपनी शायरी गुरमुखी लिपि में लिखी. जबकि पाकिस्तान में पंजाबी लिखने के लिए शाहमुखी लिपि का इस्तेमाल होता है. लाहौर में पंजाबी भाषा की क़िताबें छापने वाले प्रकाशक ‘सुचेत क़िताब घर’ ने 1992 में शिव कुमार बटालवी की चुनिंदा शायरी की एक क़िताब ‘सरींह दे फूल’ छापी. प्रकाशक सुचेत क़िताब घर के मुखी मक़सूद साक़िब बताते हैं, “मैं ‘माँ बोली’ नाम से पंजाबी का मासिक रसाला निकालता था जिसके हर अंक में शिव कुमार बटालवी की एक दो कविताएं ज़रूर छपती थीं. पाठक शिव की शायरी के बारे में चिट्ठियाँ लिखते थे. इसके कारण हमें लगा कि हमें उनकी क़िताब छापनी चाहिए.”
‘सुचेत किताब घर’ ने ‘सरींह दे फूल’ का दूसरा संस्करण साल 2014 में प्रकाशित किया. लाहौर के ही एक और प्रकाशक ‘फ़िक्शन हाउस’ ने 1997 में शिव कुमार बटालवी की संपूर्ण शायरी ‘कुलियात-ए-शिव’ के नाम से छापी.
‘फ़िक्शन हाउस’ के ज़हूर अहमद को शिव कुमार की शायरी छापने की सिफ़ारिश डॉक्टर आसिफ़ फ़ारूक़ी ने की थी. ‘कुलियात-ए-शिव’ का दूसरा संस्करण 2017 में छपा. इसी साल ‘साँझ’ नाम के प्रकाशक ने भी उनका सम्पूर्ण काव्य ‘क़लाम-ए-शिव’ के नाम से छापा है.
गांव में पनपने वाली किसी सीधी-सादी कहानी की तरह शिव को भी मेले में एक लड़की से मुहब्बत हो गयी. जब वो लड़की नज़रों से ओझल हुई तो गीत बना…
‘इक कुड़ी जिहदा नाम मुहब्बत ग़ुम है’

वह लड़की कौन थी ? इसके बारे में आधिकारिक रुप से आज तक पता नहीं चला और ना वो ख़ुद ही कभी लोगों के सामने आयी. उसके लिए शिव ने लिखा था कि –
माए नी माए मैं इक शिकरा यार बनाया
चूरी कुट्टाँ ताँ ओह खाओंदा नाहीं
वे असाँ दिल दा मास खवाया
इक उड़ारी ऐसी मारी
इक उड़ारी ऐसी मारी
ओह मुड़ वतनीं ना आया, ओ माये नी!
मैं इक शिकरा यार बना
शिकरा एक पक्षी का नाम है जो दूर से अपने शिकार को देखकर सीधे उसका मांस नोंच कर ले फिर उड़ जाता है. शिव ने अपनी प्रेमिका को शिकरा कहा है. दरअसल, शिव के दिल में जिस लड़की ने जगह बनाई थी, वह शादी करके विदेश चली गयी और शिव को छोड़ गयी. उसके जाने के बाद शिव एक दिन अमृता के यहां पहुंचे और उनसे कहा- दीदी आपने सुना कि क्या हुआ.
जब अमृता ने पूछा कि क्या हुआ ?
तब शिव ने बताया कि जो लड़की मुझसे इतनी प्यार भरी बातें किया करती थी वो मुझे छोड़कर चली गयी है. उसने विदेश जाकर शादी कर ली है. तब अमृता ने समझाया कि लोग ऐसे ही होते हैं. लेकिन शिव के दिल ने नहीं माना और वह ताउम्र उसी के ग़म में लिखते रहे. शायद यही ग़म रहा होगा कि वह शराब ख़ूब पीते थे, लेकिन गाते बहुत अच्छा थे.
