आयुर्वेद और सिद्ध जैसी चिकित्सा प्रणालियां आज की दुनिया में वैकल्पिक उपचार मानी जाती हैं. कुछ लोग झट से ऐसे उपचारों को नकार देते हैं जबकि दूसरे उन पर पूरा विश्वास करते हैं. सद्गुरु जग्गी वसुदेव कहते हैं कि आयुर्वेद जीवन के एक अलग आयाम और समझ से पैदा होता है. आयुर्वेद प्रणाली का एक बुनियादी हिस्सा यह समझना है कि हमारे शरीर बस उसका एक ढेर हैं, जो हमने इस धरती से इकट्ठा किया है. धरती की प्रकृति और पंचभूत यानि धरती को बनाने वाले पांच तत्व इस स्थूल शरीर में व्यक्त होते हैं. अगर आप इस शरीर को सबसे असरदार और उपयोगी तरीके से रखना चाहते हैं, तो यह बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है कि आप इस शरीर के साथ जो भी करें, उसका इस धरती के साथ संबंध हो.
बता दें कि आयुर्वेद आधुनिक चिकित्सा शास्त्र से पूरी तरह अलग है, यह मनुष्य को केवल प्रकृति के साथ जोड़ता है और यह मानता है कि मानव शरीर की हर समस्या का समाधान प्रकृति के सानिध्य में भी संभव है.
आम धारणा है कि प्राकृतिक चिकित्सा, घरेलू चिकित्सा और आयुर्वेद एक ही है. लेकिन यह समझना होगा कि आयुर्वेद अपने आप में संपूर्ण चिकित्सा पद्धति है. भले ही आयुर्वेद में ऐलोपैथ की तरह साइड इफेक्ट के मामले ज्यादा न होते हों, लेकिन इसमें भी सावधानी रखना जरूरी होता है. प्रचार माध्यमों में कुछ जड़ी-बूटियों के नाम इतने ज्यादा प्रसारित-प्रकाशित होते हैं कि आम व्यक्तियों को याद हो जाते हैं. आजकल हर किसी को मालूम होता है कि दिमाग तेज चलाने के लिए ब्राह्मी, पेट के लिए हरड़ लाभकारी होती है, अब अगर किसी उत्पाद में दावा किया गया हो कि यह पदार्थ मौजूद है, तो कई बार व्यक्ति इसे तुरंत खरीद लेता है. वह किसी अच्छे आयुर्वेदाचार्य से परामर्श करने की जहमत नहीं उठाता.
दरअसल, आयुर्वेद के सिद्धांत के अनुसार यदि कोई पौधा औषधीय महत्व का है तो इसका मतलब है कि उसकी जड़, फल-फूल, पत्ते, और छाल का अलग-अलग महत्व होगा. जैसे कुछ दवाओं में जड़ कारगर होगा, तो हो सकता है उसी पौधे की छाल से बनाया गया क्वाथ अलग महत्व का हो. वह कहते हैं कि अगर आयुर्वेदिक दवाएं सही ढ़ंग से तैयार न की जाएं तो उनके प्रभाव में कमी आ सकती है. इसके अलावा आयुर्वेद दवाओं के साथ-साथ बिना चिकित्सक के परामर्श के ऐलोपैथी या अन्य उपचार किए जाएं, तो ये इतनी कारगर सिद्ध नहीं होती.
आयुर्वेद में दवा बनाने के आसव और अरिष्ट दो प्रमुख तरीके हैं. आसव से आश्य है जड़ी के आसवन (डिस्ट्रीलेशन) से तैयार दवा. अरिष्ट का मतलब है कि किसी भी जड़ी का एक चौथाई तैयार काढ़ा जिसे क्वाथ कहा जाता है. अरिष्ट बनाने के लिए प्राचीन पद्धति में क्वाथ को धान, महुआ या गुड़ के साथ लंबे समय रखा जाता था, जिससे पगमेंटेशन के बाद अरिष्ट तैयार होता था, लेकिन अब इन्हें तैयार करने के लिए सीमेंट की बड़ी टंकियों का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है.
ऑल इंडिया आयुर्वेदिक कांग्रेस के तत्वावधान में आयोजित आयुर्वेद पर्व पर वैज्ञानिक सत्र में चिकित्सकों ने कहा कि आयुर्वेद से इलाज कराने में शरीर पर किसी प्रकार का कोई प्रतिकूल असर नहीं पड़ता है. पूरे विश्व में आयुर्वेद के प्रति लोगों का विश्वास लगातार बढ़ता जा रहा है. आयुर्वेद में मधुमेह, गठिया, पेट, बबासीर और चर्म जैसी असाध्य बीमारियों का सटीक इलाज है. आयुर्वेदिक औषधि का सेवन शरीर के लिए लाभकारी है.
