जेएनयू में ‘कुली लाइंस : गिरमिटियों का इतिहास’ पर होगी चर्चा
देश के प्रतिष्ठित विश्वविद्यालय जवाहर लाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय में एक पुस्तक के बहाने गिरमिटियों के इतिहास और वर्तमान में उनकी प्रासंगिकता पर एक चर्चा का आयोजन किया जा रहा है. पहली अगस्त, 2019 के दोपहर में होने वाले इस आयोजन को सीएसटीएस कर रही है. सीएसटीएस की डाॅ सविता झा खान ने बताया कि ‘कुली लाइंस : गिरमिटियों का इतिहास’ केवल एक पुस्तक भर नहीं है. कोई शोध-परक, तथ्य-परक कहानी आपके समक्ष प्रस्तुत किया जाए, तो इसे महज एक किताब नहीं, महत्वपूर्ण दस्तावेज कहना ही उचित होगा. उन हिंदुस्तानियों का इतिहास जो विदेश जाकर कभी अपना देश वापस ना लौट सके, जिन्हें सिर्फ इतिहास ने ही नहीं बल्कि हमने भी भूला दिया था.
उन्होंने बताया कि लाखों भारतीयों का दर्दनाक, वीभत्स एवं अमानवीय जीवन की सच्चाईयों को जिस तरह से लेखक ने पाठकों के समक्ष रखा है उससे यह प्रतीत होता है कि उन्हें घाट-घाट का पानी पीना पड़ा होगा. किस प्रकार भेड़-बकरियों की तरह जहाज में लादकर अनपढ़, गरीबी से जूझ रहे भारतीयों को ले जाकर बंधुआ मजदूर बना दिया गया. धर्म-परिवर्तन कर उन्हें जबरन वो सब करने को मजबूर किया गया जिसे सुनकर किसी भी सामान्य व्यक्ति का रूह कांप जाये. कमीशनखोरों ने यहाँ से काम दिलाने के बहाने अविवाहित और नवविवाहिता युवती को कलकत्ता से भेज दिया जहाँ उन्हें कई यातनाएं दी गई और कईयों को लालच देकर वेश्यावृत्ति के रसातल में धकेल दिया गया. लाखों भारतीय सुख-समृद्धि की तलाश में सात समुंदर पर चले गये जो कभी वापस नहीं आए, ऐसी कई घटनाओं को पढ़कर आपका दिल दहल जाएगा.
बता दें कि जवाहर लाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय के के समिति कक्ष, 212, भारतीय भाषा केंद्र 1, ओल्ड बिल्डिंग में पुस्तक के बहाने संवाद और विमर्श होगा। साथ ही बिदेसिया गायन भी होगा. बताया गया है कि व्याख्यान डॉ. प्रवीण कुमार का होगा. अध्यक्षता प्रो. देवेन्द्र चौबे करेंगे, जिसमें मध्यस्थता वरिष्ठ पत्रकार राहुल देव और जेएनयू के प्राध्यापक प्रो. मनींद्र नाथ ठाकुर करेंगे. वहीं, बिदेसिया गायन कुमकुम झा का होगा.
नॉर्वे में रहनेवाले पेशे से चिकित्सक, लेखक प्रवीण कुमार मूल रूप से बिहार के मधुबनी जिले के सरिसबपाही गाँव से हैं. वे बहुमुखी प्रतिभा के धनी हैं, उनका आलेख भारत के प्रमुख समाचार पत्रों में प्रकाशित होता रहता है. इससे पूर्व समाजिक व्यंग्य संग्रह चमन लाल की डायरी, दो यात्रा संस्मरण क्रमशः नास्तिकों के देश में नीदरलैंड, भूतों के देश में आईसलैंड प्रकाशित हो चुकी है.
