हमारी भारतीय संस्कृति हमेशा से ही विविध संस्कृतियों की परिचायक रही है, ये दुनिया की सबसे प्राचीनतम संस्कृतियों में से एक है और इसे दुनिया की सभी संस्कृतियों की जननी भी माना गया है।
इस संस्कृति में छोटो को आशीष और बड़ों को आदर देने की परंपरा सदियों से चली आ रही है। और इसी परंपरा को हम ‘चरणस्पर्श, चरणवंदन या पैर छूने’ की प्रक्रिया कहते हैं।
जिस तरह चुम्बक लोहे को आकर्षित कर अपनी ओर खींचता है उसी तरह अच्छे आचरण वाले व्यक्ति भी हमें अपनी ओर आकर्षित करते हैं और हम सहसा ही झुक कर उन्हें चरणस्पर्श कर प्रणाम करते हैं।
बहुत से शोध भी इस बात को सत्यापित करते हैं कि, चरण स्पर्श एक ऐसी सुदृढ़ परम्परा है जिससे न केवल बड़ों का आशीर्वाद मिलता है बल्कि विद्युत चुम्बकीय ऊर्जा के चक्र की मदद से बड़ों के स्वभाव की अच्छी बातें भी हमारे अंदर आती है। इन्ही कारणों से चरण स्पर्श को धर्म और आचरण से भी जोड़ा गया है।
हिन्दू धर्म में ईश्वर से लेकर बड़े-बुजुर्गों के पैर छूकर आशीर्वाद लेने की परंपरा है। चरणस्पर्श के द्वारा हम सामने वाले के प्रति कृतज्ञता व्यक्त करते हैं। शास्त्रों में ऐसा कहा गया है कि, बड़े लोगों के पैर छूने से पुण्य में बढ़ोतरी के साथ ही बल, बुद्धि, विद्या, यश और आयु की वृद्धि होती है। अथर्ववेद में भी बड़ों को प्रणाम करने की महत्ता को बताया गया है। बचपन से हमारे बड़े भी हमें चरण स्पर्श करने की आदत डालते आये हैं क्योंकि ये भारतीय संस्कृति का एक महत्वपूर्ण अंग है।
भारत के कई गाँवों में आज भी नवविवाहित महिलाएं अपने से बड़ों के चरणस्पर्श तीन बार पैर दबाकर यानी ‘घुटने से लेकर पैर के पंजों को दोनों हाथों से हल्का दबाकर’ करती है।
शास्त्रों में चरण स्पर्श के महत्व को स्वयं भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने सुदामा के चरणस्पर्श कर के बताया था, कृष्ण ने केवल उनके चरण ही नहीं छूए बल्कि उन्हें धोया भी! मान्यता है कि, सुख सौभाग्य की कामना के लिए नवरात्रों पर भी कन्याओं के पैर धोकर पूजे जाते है।
कहते हैं, जो फल कपिला नामक गाय के दान से और कार्तिक व ज्येष्ठ मास में पुष्कर स्नान, दान, पुण्य आदि से मिलता है वह पुण्यफल चरण वंदन से प्राप्त होता है। इस बात से ये अंदाजा लगाया जा सकता है कि चरण वंदन की भारतीय पुराणों में कितनी महत्ता है।
दरअसल चरण स्पर्श करना केवल झुककर अपनी कमर दुखाना ही नहीं है, बल्कि ये एक विज्ञान है जो हमारे शारीरिक, मानसिक और वैचारिक विकास से भी जुड़ा है।
पैर छूने से शरीर सक्रिय होता है और बॉडी में ब्लड सर्कुलेशन बढ़ता है, एक तरह का प्रणायाम होता है। पैर तीन तरह से छूए जाते हैं- ‘पहला झुककर, दूसरा घुटने के बल बैठकर व तीसरा साष्टांग प्रणाम कर के।’ झुककर पैर छूने से कमर और रीढ़ की हड्डी को आराम मिलता है। दूसरी विधि अनुसार पैर छूने से जोड़ों के दर्द से राहत मिलती है और साष्टांग प्रणाम करने से मांसपेशियां पूरी तरह खुल जाती है, उन्हें मजबूती मिलती है।
मनोविज्ञान के अनुसार, दिमाग से ही हमारा शरीर संचालित होता है। आगे की तरफ झुकने से दिमाग की नसों में रक्त का संचार बढ़ता है और हम ताजगी का अहसास करते हैं।
वैज्ञानिक तर्क के अनुसार, प्रत्येक मनुष्य के शरीर में दिमाग से लेकर पैरों तक लगातार उर्जा का संचार होता है। इसे ‘लौकिक या कॉस्मिक उर्जा’ कहा जाता है। इस प्रक्रिया में जब हम किसी व्यक्ति के अंगुलियों से उल्टे तरफ के पैर छूते हैं तो इस तरह शरीर में विद्युतीय ऊर्जा का चक्र बन जाता है, साथ ही सामने वाले के शरीर की ऊर्जा हमारे अंदर प्रवेश कर जाती है।
चरणस्पर्श की ये परंपरा धर्म, अध्यात्म और विज्ञान की दृष्टि से काफी उपयोगी और महत्वपूर्ण है। देखा गया है कि, कोई व्यक्ति चाहे कितना ही क्रोधित या कठोर स्वभाव का क्यों न हो, अगर हम उसके पैर छूते है, तो बदले में उसका हाथ हमें आशीर्वाद देने के लिए ही उठता है। इसलिए चरण स्पर्श, चरणवंदन, चरण स्तुति, चरण पूजा या चरण स्मृति कभी भी व्यर्थ नहीं जाती, इनके अच्छे परिणाम ज़रूर मिलते हैं।
