GLASS BANGLES: वैसे तो चूड़ियां एक पारंपरिक गहने के तौर पर पहना जाता रहा है। लेकिन क्या आपको पता है कि चूड़ियों की खनक से घरों ना सिर्फ खुशहाली आती है बल्कि यह घर के वास्तुदोष को भी दूर करने के कारगर उपायों में से एक माना जाता है। हिन्दू धर्म में चूड़िया सुहाग के प्रतीक के तौर पर माना गाय है। भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के साथ-साथ दक्षिण एशिया में लगभग सभी धर्म-संप्रदाय की स्त्रियां इसे पहनती आई हैं। वैसे तो चूड़ियां कांच के साथ-साथ प्लास्टिक, पीतल, लाख, हाथी दांत की भी बनती रही हैं। अलग-अलग रूप और रंगों में अपनी चमक बिखेरती चूड़िया श्रृंगार में महत्वपूर्ण स्थान रखती हैं।
लेकिन इन चूड़ियों में कांच की चूड़ियों की खनखानाहट की अपनी अलग ही पहचान है। तभी तो इसे आम जीवन से लेकर साहित्य और फिल्मों-गानों में इतनी महत्ता दी गई है। क्या आपको पता है जिन कांच की चूड़ियां आपके हाथों में खनखनाती है वह बनती कहां हैं। इस आकर्षक और कलात्मक कांच की चूड़ियों को बनाया जाता है उत्तर प्रदेश के आगरा जिले से 40 किलोमीटर दूर फिरोजाबाद की नगरी में।

क्या है इसका इतिहास
वैसे तो उत्तर प्रदेश का हर जिला ही इतिहास के पन्नों में अपनी अलग-अलग कहानियों के लिए जाना जाता है लेकिन आगरा से सटे फिरोजाबाद की नगरी के क्या ही कहने। यहां की कांच की चूड़ियां की खनक विश्व विख्यात है। हम सब के मन में यह उत्कंठा तो जरूर होती होगी कि आखिर सुहाग की इस निशानी की शुरूआत हुई कब होगी। कहते हैं, इस शहर में चूड़ियों का इतिहास करीब 110 साल पुराना है। इसकी जानकारी हमें साहित्यरत्न गणेश शर्मा जी द्वारा लिखी गई पुस्तक फिरोजाबाद परिचय” से मिलती है।
इसमें बताया गया है कि कांच की चूड़ियों को बनाने की शुरूआत आज से लगभग 250 से 300 साल पहले हुई थी। वहां के चंद्रवाड़ा के राजाओं तथा मुगलों से भी पहले। वहाँ के गांव उरमपुरा और रपड़ी में रेता उपलब्ध था। आसानी से उपलब्ध रेते और सींग के कारण इसे बनाना वनिस्पत आसान था। फिरोजाबाद के लोग अपने घरों के नजदीक में ही छोटी-छोटी भट्टियों की मदद से चूड़िया बनाया करते थे। शुरू में तो यह चूड़िया भद्दी और रंग विहीन हुआ करती थी। समय के साथ मांग में इजाफे ने इसके बाजार और उत्पादन दोनों में निखार लाया।
बीतते समय के साथ कुशल कार्य पद्धति से उत्पादन तथा कला दोनों का भरपूर विकास हुआ। जिसका परिणाम यह हुआ कि देश भर से ही नहीं बल्कि विदेशों तक से रंग बिरंगी चमक वाली चूड़ियों की मांग आने लगी। जिसमें शामिल थे ऑस्ट्रेलिया, जापान आदि। अब बारी थी विदेशों से रंग बिरंगी कांच के आयात की ताकि उनसे चूड़िया बनाई जा सके। फिर ब्रोकिन ग्लास की मदद से यहां के कारीगर चूड़िया बनाने लगे।

आखिर कैसे बनती हैं, कांच की चूड़ियां
लेकिन क्या आपको पता है कि जो रंग बिरंगी चूड़िया आपको मिलती हैं वह एक बार में नहीं बनती और ना ही एक जगह पर। जी हां इसे बनाने का प्रोसेस अलग-अलग है। पहले पहले जब भट्टी का तापमान 1300 से 1500 डिग्री तक पहुंच जाता है। तो पिघले घोल की मदद से कांच बनाने की प्रक्रिया शुरू होती है। यहां पर कांच के टुकड़ों को आकृति देकर गर्म कांच को ठंडा किया जाता है। श्रमिक फिर से उसी कांच पर भट्टी पर नया कांच चढ़ाता है। इसे तीन से चार बार किया जाता है। फिर इससे लच्छे को बनाया जाता है। इसके बाद हाथ ठेलों की मदद से ये सदाई और जुड़ाई के लिए दूसरे जगह जाती है। चूड़ियों को संवारने का काम गली-कूचों के कारीगरी का बेजोड़ नमूना है जो हम तक पहुंचता है। चूड़ियों की छटाई और तुड़ाई के बाद वह फिर से कारखाने में वापस आता है और यहां से फिर से छोटे बड़े दुकानदार इसे खरीदकर ले जाते हैं। जो कि इस पर गोल्ड, सिल्वर पॉलिश आदि कर इसे बाजार में बेचते हैं। ऐसे बनती है भारतीय सुहाग की निशानी कांच की चूड़ियां।
