भारत की जमीन में कई महान संतों का जन्म हुआ है जिनमें से एक हैं संत रवि दस जी। आज यानी कि 24 फरवरी 2024 को संत रवि दस जी का जन्म हुआ था| आप में से कई लोग संत रवि दस जी के बारे में नहीं जानते होंगे। ना ही आपको यह पता होगा कि भक्ति आंदोलन में उनका बहुत बड़ा योगदान रहा है| आपको बता दें कि संत रवि दस जी का जन्म वाराणसी में हुआ था। उन्हें रैदास और रूहिदास के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इनकी माता का नाम श्रीमति कलसा देवी तथा पिता का नाम श्री संतोख दास था| इनका जन्म माघ पूर्णिमा के दिन होने पर हर साल माघ पूर्णिमा को इनकी जयंती मनाई जाती है|
संत रवि दस जी भक्ति में लीन रहते थे| वह एक बहुत बड़े समाज सुधारक भी थे| उन्होंने अपनी शिक्षाओं और उपदेशों से लोगों के जीवन को समृद्ध बनाया है। उन्होंने भक्ति के साथ-साथ सामाजिक कार्यों में भी बढ़ चढ़ कर हिस्सा लिया और समाज की भलाई के लिए काम किया| संत रवि दस जी अपने पैतृक काम जूते सिलने में कभी भी शर्मिंद्गी महसूस नही करते थे| उन्होंने अपना जीवन समाज को सुधारने के साथ ही अपनी नई नई रचनाएं रचने में निकाल दिया| आपको यह जानकर हैरानी होगी कि संत रविदास जी के माध्यम से ही मीराबाई ने परमात्मा को जाना था। इसके पहले वे कृष्ण की भक्त थीं तथा उनके सभी गीतों में विरह के आंसू बहते थे। जब उन्होंने रविदास जी से दीक्षा ली, ध्यान सीखा और अपने भीतर गूंजते राम-नाम को सुना, तब से उनके गीतों में मिलन की सुगंध आ गई।
वैसे क्या आपको यह पता है कि संत रविदास जी की जयंती के मौके पर लोग उनके दोहे गाते हैं। उनकी शोभा यात्राओं का आयोजन करते हैं और भजन कीर्तन भी करते हैं। आज के वक्त में संत रविदास जी के दोहे बेहद प्रचलित हैं। वह भक्ति कल के महान संतों में से एक थे| इनकी रचनाओं ने भक्ति आंदोलन में भी काफी विशेष भूमिका निभाई थी| वह महान संत कबीर दास के शिष्य थे| इनके भक्ति पद और गीत आपको ग्रन्थ साहिब में भी देखने को मिल जाएंगे| इतना ही नहीं, हिंदू धर्म के साथ-साथ सिख धर्म के लोग भी संत रविदास के प्रति श्रद्धा भाव रखते हैं। आपको बता दें कि संत रविदास जी की 41 दोहों को गुरुग्रंथ साहिब में शामिल किया गया है।
