खबरों के अनुसार प्रधानमंत्री अंडरवाटर मेट्रो के साथ-साथ कवि सुभाष-हेमंत मुखोपाध्याय मेट्रो खंड और तारातला-माजेरहाट मेट्रो खंड का भी उद्घाटन करेंगे। इसके अलावा पीएम मोदी देश भर में कई प्रमुख मेट्रो और रैपिड ट्रांजिट परियोजनाओं का भी आज ही उद्घाटन करेंगे। आपको बात दें कि प्रधानमंत्री पिंपरी चिंचवड़ मेट्रो-निगड़ी के बीच पुणे मेट्रो रेल परियोजना चरण 1 के विस्तार की आधारशिला भी रखेंगे।
2020 में ही हो चुका है पूर्वी-पश्चिमी मेट्रो का उद्धघाटन
हालांकि, प्राप्त सूचना के अनुसार फरवरी 2020 में तत्कालीन रेल मंत्री पीयूष गोयल ने साल्ट लेक सेक्टर वी और साल्ट लेक स्टेडियम को जोड़ने वाले कोलकाता मेट्रो के पूर्व-पश्चिम मेट्रो कॉरिडोर के पहले चरण का उद्घाटन कर दिया था। यह 16.5 किलोमीटर लंबी मेट्रो लाइन है। ये मेट्रो लाइन हुगली के पश्चिमी तट पर स्थित हावड़ा को पूर्वी तट पर साल्ट लेक शहर से जोड़ती है। इसका 10.8 किलोमीटर हिस्सा भूमिगत है। आप जानकर हैरान होंगे यह भारत की पहली ऐसी परिवहन परियोजना है, जिसमें मेट्रो रेल नदी के के नीचे बनी सुरंग से गुजरेगी।
