Vedic math : the magic of Ganita Sutras

Not everything can be counted. But what can be counted, it’s because of India. Indian Mathematics can be dated back to 1200 BC. India has made important contributions to the mathematics scenario during 400AD to 1200 AD. The most natural arithmetic can be acknowledged to India and her great mathematicians. From the number 0 by Aryabhatta, decimal systems, algebra, negative numbers to even trigonometry, India does not get enough credit for bringing modern science its beginning.

One such genius, Shri Bharati Krishna Tirtha, contributed his life and works to the mathematics. After dedicating his life to studying the Vedas, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Shri Bharati Krishna Tirtha discovered 16 sutras and 13 sub-sutras also known as Ganita Sutra relating to mathematics in the Atharva Veda. The Ganita Sutras are also called Sulba Sutras, “the easy mathematical formulae“.

Vedic mathematics is currently the world’s fastest mental mathematics system and in world renowned. Shri Bharati Krishna Tirtha, after years of study, was one of the first reformers during the start of the National Movement of India against the British Government. Jagadguru Shankaracharya was also one of the first people to travel to the west to impart his knowledge about vedic mathematics in University of San Diego and California Institute of Technology.

Be Hindi with English—Vedic Math

Vedic mathematics has many benefits over normal mathematics. It is 10 to 15 times faster and can increase accuracy when during large mathematical calculations. Vedic mathematics has also proved to improve academic performance especially for students attempting SAT, CAT and other aptitude tests. Vedic Mathematics encompasses all kinds of mathematical calculations through only 16 astonishing word-formulae or sutras. These sutras are easy to apply and master, increasing mental agility and interest in numbers.
Shakuntala Devi, known as India’s Human Computer, is famous worldwide for her accomplishments and capapbilities in mental mathematics. She has been traveling around the globe performing for the student community, Presidents, Politicians, Prime Ministers and Educationalists. Her staggeringly accurate calculations have broken all records in the Guinness Book of world record. She at the Southern Methodist University in the US, calculated the 23rd root of a 201 digit number, giving an exact answer within 50 seconds. At the Stanford University, Shakuntala Devi calculated the cube root of 95,443,993 as 457 in just 2 seconds. If that isn’t magic, what is?

Still think India is backwards in science? Think again!
