आद सच, जुगाद सच, है भी सच, नानक होसे भी सच ॥
ये गुरुनानक देव जी के मुख से निकले केवल कुछ शब्द नहीं हैं। ना ही इनकी ये पहचान है कि ये गुरुग्रंथ साहिब का पहला भजन है। ये तो वो मूल मंत्र है जो ना सिर्फ सिख संगत को उस सर्वशक्तिमान ईश्वर के गुणों से रूबरू कराता है बल्कि सम्पूर्ण मानव समाज को ही दिशा दिखाता है। श्री गुरुनानक देव जी के मुख से निकले ये शब्द वो बीज हैं जो कालांतर में सिख धर्म की नींव बने।
विश्व के पांचवे सबसे बड़े धर्म के संस्थापक गुरुनानक देव जी की सीखों की वर्तमान समय में प्रासंगिकता की बात करने से पहले हम सिख शब्द को समझ लें। दरअसल सिख का अर्थ होता है शिष्य। अर्थात जो गुरुनानक देव जी की सीखों को एक शिष्य की भांति अपने आचरण और जीवन में अपना ले, वो सिख है और हम सभी जानते हैं कि उनकी सीखों में सबसे बड़ा धर्म मानवता है इसलिए उनकी सीखें हर काल में प्रासंगिक हैं।
जब गुरुनानक देव जी कहते हैं कि “एक ओंकार, सतनाम”, तो उनके आध्यात्म की इस परिभाषा को केवल उनके अनुयायी ही नहीं बल्कि प्राचीन वेद विज्ञान से लेकर आधुनिक विज्ञान भी स्वीकार करने पर विवश हो जाता है। वे कहते हैं, एक ओंकार सतनाम यानी ओंकार ही एक अटल सत्य है। ओंकार यानी ॐष्। यह तो हम सभी जानते हैं कि हम जो भी कहते हैं, जिन भी शब्दों का उच्चारण करते हैं उनकी एक सीमा होती है लेकिन ओंकार असीमित है। प्राचीन ऋषियों ने भी ॐ को अजपा कहा है क्योंकि ॐ शब्दातीत है यानी शब्दों से परे है। और आधुनिक विज्ञान भी यह स्वीकार करता है कि ॐ कोई ध्वनि नहीं बल्कि एक अनाहत नाद है। क्योंकि ध्वनि तो दो वस्तुओं के टकराने से या कंपन से उत्पन्न होती है लेकिन ॐ किसी से टकराने से उत्पन्न नहीं हुआ। जहाँ टकराहट हो वहाँ भला ॐ कहाँ? जब भीतर बिल्कुल शांति हो, अंदर के सारे स्वर बंद हो जाएं, सभी द्वंद मिट जाएं तो एक अनाहत से हमारा संपर्क होता है और हम ॐ से जुड़ पाते हैं और एक अनोखी ऊर्जा को महसूस कर पाते हैं। ॐ का हमारे भीतर के सत्य और शुभ से लेना देना है। इसलिए जब वे कहते हैं एक ओंकार तो वे कहना चाहते हैं कि ईश्वर एक ही है जो हम सब के भीतर ही निवास करता है और यही सबसे बड़ा सत्य भी है।
जब 15 वीं सदी में गुरुनानक देव जी ने सिख धर्म की स्थापना की थी, तो यह धर्म के प्रति लोगों के नज़रिए पर एक क्रांतिकारी बदलाव की शुरुआत थी। यह उस विरोधाभासी सोच पर प्रहार था जो व्यक्ति के सांसारिक जीवन और उसके आध्यात्मिक जीवन को अलग करती थी। अपने विचारों से गुरुनानक देव जी ने उस काल के सामाजिक और धार्मिक मूल्यों की नींव ही हिला दी थी। उन्होंने पहली बार लोगों को यह विचार दिया कि मनुष्य का सामाजिक जीवन उसके आध्यात्मिक जीवन की बाधा नहीं है बल्कि उसका अविभाज्य हिस्सा है। सदियों की परंपरागत सोच के विपरीत गुरुनानक जी वो पहले ईश्वरीय दूत थे जिन्होंने जोर देकर कहा था कि
ईश्वर पहाड़ों या जंगलों में भूखा रहकर खुद को कष्ट देने से नहीं मिलते बल्कि वो सामाजिक जीवन जीते हुए दूसरों के कष्टों को दूर करने से मिलते हैं। उनके अनुसार व्यक्तिगत मोक्ष का रास्ता सेवा कार्य द्वारा समाज के लोगों को दुखों से मोक्ष दिला कर निकलता था। इसके लिए उन्होंने अपने भक्तों को सेवा ते सिमरन का मंत्र दिया। उस दौर में जब लोगों को यकीन था कि ईश्वर से एकाकार के लिए सन्यास के मार्ग पर चलना आवश्यक है, उन्होंने अपने भक्तों को मध्यम मार्ग अपनाने पर बल दिया जिस पर चलकर गृहस्थ आश्रम का पालन भी हो सकता है और आध्यात्मिक जीवन भी अपनाया जा सकता है। आज के भौतिकवादी युग में गुरुनानक देव जी का यह नज़रिया आत्मकल्याण ही नहीं समाज कल्याण की दृष्टि से भी बेहद प्रासंगिक है। और उन्होंने अपने इस जीवन दर्शन को अपनी जीवन यात्रा से चरितार्थ करके भी दिखाया। अपने जीवन काल में उन्होंने खुद एक गृहस्थ जीवन जीते हुए आध्यात्म की ऊँचाइयों को छूने वाले एक संत का सर्वश्रेष्ठ उदाहरण समाज के सामने प्रस्तुत किया। इस सोच के विपरीत कि संसार माया है, मिथ्या है, झूठ है, फरेब है, उन्होंने कहा कि संसार ना सिर्फ सत्य है बल्कि वो साधन है, वो कर्मभूमि है जहाँ हम ईश्वर की इच्छा से उनकी इच्छानुसार कर्म करने के लिए आए हैं। उनका मानना था, हुकम राजायी चलना नानक लिख्या नाल अर्थात सबकुछ परमात्मा की इच्छा के अनुसार होता है और हमें बिना कुछ कहे इसे स्वीकार करना चाहिए।
लेकिन परमात्मा के करीब जाने के लिए संसार से दूर होने की आवश्यकता नहीं है बल्कि उस परमपिता के द्वारा दिए गए इस जीवन में हमारा नैतिकता पूर्ण आचरण ही हमारे जीवन को उसका आध्यात्मिक रूप और रंग देता है। उन्होंने ध्यान, तप योग से अधिक सतकर्म को और रीत रिवाज से अधिक महत्व मनुष्य के व्यक्तिगत नैतिक आचरण को दिया। इसलिए वे कहते थे कि सत्य बोलना श्रेष्ठ आचरण है लेकिन सच्चाई के साथ जीवन जीना सर्वश्रेष्ठ आचरण है। आज जब पूरी दुनिया में दोहरे चरित्र का होना ही सफलता प्राप्त करने का एक महत्वपूर्ण गुण बन गया हो और नैतिक मूल्यों का लगातार ह््रास हो रहा हो, तो गुरुनानक जी की यह सीखें सम्पूर्ण विश्व में पथप्रदर्शक का काम कर रही हैं।
