HISTORY OF DELHI: दिल्ली है दिलवालों की। जी हां दिल्ली का दिल है भी तो बहुत पुराना। हजारों साल पहले दिल्ली को महाभारत काल के समय में इन्द्रप्रस्थ नगर के रूप में बसाया गया था। महाभारत में दिए गए कहानियों के अनुसार इन्द्रप्रस्थ को स्वयं विश्वकर्मा ने श्री कृष्ण के कहने पर पांडवों के लिए बसाया था और उस वक्त की यह सबसे सुंदर नगरी में से एक था। कहते तो ऐसा भी है कि इंद्रप्रस्थ की खूबसूरती ही थी कि जिससे ईर्ष्या वश दुर्योधन ने इसे भी अपने क्षेत्र में शामिल करने के लिए पांडवों को जुआ के जाल में फंसाया था।
दिल्ली आज जिस स्वरूप में है, पहले वैसी कभी नहीं थी। दिल्ली का शहर सहस्त्राबदियों साल पुराना है। दिल्ली का नाम दिल्ली कैसे पड़ा। इसे जानने के लिए हमें सदियों पीछे जाना होगा। दिल्ली के नाम को लेकर एक कहानी यह भी है कि ईसा पूर्व 50 में मौर्यवंश का एक राजा धिल्लु था। उसे दिलु भी कह कर पुकारते थे। माना यह जाता है कि इसी राजा के नाम पर दिलु का समय के साथ अपभ्रंश दिल्ली पड़ गया।
कुछ इतिहासकार यह भी कहते हैं कि तोमरवंश के एक राजा धव ने इस इलाके का नाम ढ़ीली रखा था। इसके किले के अंदर लोहे का एक खंभा था। जो कि ढीला था। इसी ढीला खंभा की वजह से, समय के साथ इस स्थान का नाम दिल्ली पड़ गया। दूसरा धरा यह कहता है कि तोमरवंश के दौरान एक जाति हुआ करती थी जो कि उस वक्त सिक्के बनाने का काम किया करती थी। जिन्हें देहलीवाल कहा जाता था। वहीं कुछ लोगों का मानना है कि यह इलाका सीमा का क्षेत्र होने के कारण हिन्दुस्तान की दहलीज माना जाता था। इसी के अपभ्रंश को समय के साथ दिल्ली का नाम दे दिया गया।
दिल्ली को अपने आधुनिक स्थापत्य की पहचान मध्यकाल में मिली। यह मध्यकाल का पहला बसाया हुआ शहर था। जो कि दक्षिण-पश्चिम बॉर्डर के पास स्थित था। जिसे आज आप महरौली के पास देख सकते हैं। यह शहर मध्यकाल के सात शहरों में सबसे पहला शहर था। इसे योगिनीपुरा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। लेकिन इसको महत्ता तब मिली जब 12 वीं शताब्दी में राजा अनंगपाल तोमर ने अपना तोमर राजवंश लालकोट से चलाया। जिसे बाद में अजमेर के चौहान राजा ने जीतकर इसका नाम किला राय पिथौरा कर दिया।
कहते हैं दिल्ली का अंतिम हिन्दू शासक पृथ्वीराज चौहान था। क्योंकि इसे मोहम्मद गौरी से पराजित होना पड़ा था। 1206 से दिल्ली सल्तनत दास राजवंश के नीचे चलने लगी थी। इसके सुल्तानों में पहले कुतुब-उद-दीन ऐबक फिर खिलजी वंश, तुगलक वंश , सैय्यद वंश और फिर लोदी वंश होते हुए मुगलों के हाथ लगी। मुगलों के हाथों में लंबे वक्त तक दिल्ली की बागडोर रहने के बाद इसपर अंग्रेजों का शासन हो गया और फिर भारत ने 1947 की आजादी के बाद इसे अधिकारिक तौर पर स्वतंत्र भारत की राजधानी के रूप में स्थापित किया। ऐसी है कहानी, दिल्ली के दिल की। जिसने अपने सफर में इंद्रप्रस्थ से लेकर आजाद भारत की तस्वीर तक को, अपने अंदर समेट रखा है।
