जल संकट से जूझ रहे पूरे विश्व में सिंचाई का स्तर 52 फीसदी तक बढ़ गया है, जिसमें 36 फीसदी हिस्सेदारी भारत की भी है। अमेरिका, जर्मनी, फिनलैंड और चीन के शोधकर्ताओं द्वारा किए गए एक अध्ययन में इस जानकारी का खुलासा हुआ है। जहां अध्ययन में शोधकर्ताओं को अंतरराष्ट्रीय आंकड़ों, राष्ट्रीय कृषि जनगणना और सरकारी रिपोर्टों की मदद लेनी पड़ी है। इनकी मदद से उन्होंने 243 देशों के सिंचाई संबंधी ताजा आंकड़े भी उपयोग में लिए हैं।
90 फीसद जल सिंचाई में हो रहा उपयोग
मौजूदा समय में इंसानों के इस्तेमाल के योग्य 90 फीसदी से अधिक जल का उपयोग सिंचाई के लिए किया जा रहा है। कृषि भूमि के करीब 24 फीसदी हिस्से पर सिंचाई की व्यवस्था है। यह आज के समय में दुनिया का करीब 40 फीसदी खाद्य उत्पादित कर रहा है। जाँच के समय जिन देशों में सिंचाई का विस्तार सबसे अधिक हुआ, वे चीन (12.8 एमएचए) और भारत (8.5 एमएचए) थे। इसके पीछे एक प्रमुख कारण खाद्य आत्मनिर्भरता बनाए रखने के लिए सिंचाई परियोजनाओं में बढ़ता निवेश है।
सिंचित कृषि क्षेत्र में 2.8 करोड़ हेक्टेयर की वृद्धि
जहां एक तरफ उत्तर-पश्चिम भारत और उत्तर-पूर्व चीन जैसे क्षेत्रों के सिंचित क्षेत्र में पर्याप्त विस्तार हुआ है, वहीं रूस जैसे क्षेत्र के सिंचित क्षेत्र में गिरावट देखी गयी है। आंकड़ों के अनुसार एशिया के सिंचित कृषि क्षेत्र में इस दौरान 2.8 करोड़ हेक्टेयर का इजाफा हुआ है। साथ ही दक्षिण अमेरिका में भी 56 लाख हेक्टेयर की वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है।
भारत और पाकिस्तान की सिचाई का स्तर सबसे ज़्यादा
आपको बता दें कि 2015 से जुड़े आंकड़ों के अनुसार भारत और पाकिस्तान में सिंचाई का सबसे अधिक अस्थिर विस्तार दिखा है। भारत में सिंचाई का कुल 86 फीसदी (1.21 करोड़ हेक्टेयर) विस्तार हुआ है। ये विस्तार उन क्षेत्रों में हुआ है जो पहले ही भूजल और सतह पर मौजूद पानी की कमी से परेशान हैं। इसी प्रकार पाकिस्तान में यह आंकड़ा 87 फीसदी (करीब 15.3 लाख हेक्टेयर) दर्ज किया गया है।
