जी हां यही कारण है कि यहां के दर्जनों गांव के नाम पशु-पक्षी, जंगल, पहाड़ और पेड़ों के नाम पर रखे गए हैं। सिमडेगा जिले के लगभग हर हिस्से में आपको गांवों के नामों के पीछे प्रकृति प्रेम साफ तौर पर दिख जाएगा। भंवरपहाड़, बांसजोर, डुमरडीह, बंदरचुआं, डुमरटोली, करमटोली, केउंदटोली, जामतई, खिजूरबहार, नीमतुर, कुसुम, बरडोगा आदि सारे के सारे नाम पेड़-पौधे और पशु आधारित है। इन गांवों के नाम हमें सोचने पर मजबूर कर देते हैं कि आखिर इन नामों के पीछे की कहानी क्या रही होगी? आखिर किस कारण से ये सारे नाम रखे गए होंगे?
भंवरछाबा, हल्दीबेड़ा, पहाड़दुर्ग, बरपानी, भेड़ीकुदर ऐसे नाम हैं जो अपने नाम के पीछे की कहानी जानने को उत्सुक करते हैं। सिमडोगा के बड़े-बुजुर्गों से जब आप इसके पीछे की कहानी बताने को कहेंगे तो उनका उत्तर मिलेगा कि हमारे बुजुर्गों को प्रकृति से गहरा प्रेम और जुड़ाव था। लोग पेड़-पौधे, जंगल-जमीन, पशु-पक्षी से बेहद प्यार करते थे। यही कारण है अपने गांव का नाम इस तरह का रखा है। वहां गरजा पंचायत के बाघलाता गांव के नाम के पीछे की कहानी वहां के जंगल से है। चूंकि इस जंगल का नाम बाघलाता जंगल है, इसलिए इस गांव का नाम भी बाघलाता ही रख दिया गया है।
विकास की अंधी दौड़ में ये नाम हमें सीख देते हैं कि ये नाम सिर्फ नाम ना होकर मनुष्य के जीवन के आधार की एक पहचान है। आज के भौतिकवादी युग में जंगल-दर-जंगल काटे जा रहे हैं। ऐसे में यह उदाहरण पूरे देश के लिए एक मिशाल से कम नहीं। जानते हैं वहां के स्थानीय निवासी का कहना है कि वहां के गांव महुआटोली का नाम इसलिए महुआटोली पड़ा क्योंकि वहां महुआ का एक विशाल पेड़ होता था। जी हां वहीं महुआ जिसके फूल को चुनकर ग्रामीण जीवन में कई घरों के चूल्हें जलते हैं। वहाँ पास में ही बांस पहाड़ गांव के ही पास ही बांस का एक बहुत बड़ा जंगल हुआ करता था। जिस कारण वहां के लोगों ने इसे ऐसा नाम दे दिया।
समय के पहिये ने लोगों को भले ही अपने गांव के नाम की कहानी को चेतना से विस्मृत कर दिया हो। लेकिन वहां के बुजुर्गों का कहना है कि उनके पूर्वजों ने प्रकृति, पशु-पक्षी और जानवरों के लगाव और हम मानव के जीवन का स्वत: जुड़ाव ही गांव के नामकरण का आधार है। गांव की सबसे पूरानी जीवित पीढ़ी बड़े उत्साह के साथ गांव के नाम के पीछे की कहानी बताते हुए कहते हैं कि यहीं पास में सरईपानी नाम का एक गांव है। लेकिन जानते हैं सरई माने क्या होता है? सरई माने होता है- सखुआ, यानी की सखुआ का पेड़। इस पेड़ की खासियत यह है कि इसकी लकड़ियों को जितना पानी मिलता है वह उतनी मजबूत होती जाती हैं और वजन में भी बहुत हल्की होती हैं। मानो आपने अपने हाथ में लकड़ी का टुकड़ा उठाया ही ना हो। और सरईपानी के पीछे की कहानी तो और ही मजेदार है। चूंकि इसके पीछे सालों भर पानी रिस-रिस कर बहता रहता था इसलिए इसका नाम सरईपानी रख दिया गया।
शिक्षा, जीवन, प्रकृति, निवास हमेशा से आपस में अन्योनाश्रय ढ़ंग से जुड़े रहे हैं। समय के इतिहास के ये पन्ने, मनुष्य और प्रकृति के बीच के सामंजस्य का एक अच्छा उदाहरण साबित हो सकता है। बस जरूरत है विकास और अपने आवास को प्रकृति के मूल तत्व के साथ समायोजित करने की । तब जाकर हम इस प्रकृति का कर्ज कहीं उतार पाएंगे। इस तरह के नाम से प्रकृति के प्रति गहरा लगाव अनायास ही दिख जाता है। प्रकृति प्रदत्त रक्षा प्रणाली और मनुष्य का लगाव हमेशा से एक तारतम्यता की मांग करता है।
