जेएनयू के कुलपति ने किया इरा सिंघल को सम्मानित
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अध्ययन संस्थान जेएनयू के मानव अधिकार तथा विकलांगता अध्ययन कार्यक्रम तथा सोसाइटी फाॅर डिसेबिलिटी एण्ड रिहेबिलिशन स्टडीज के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में भारत सरकार के युवा मामलों के मंत्रालय द्वारा आंशिक रूप से प्रायोजित भारत के राष्ट्रीहय एकीकरण में विकलांग युवतियों तथा किशोरों की भूमिका विषय पर आयोजित दो दिवसीय राष्ट्रहीय संगोष्ठी का आयोजन किया गया. सेमिनार का उदघाटन जवाहर लाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रो एम जगदीश कुमार ने किया. इस अवसर पर एक स्मारिका का विमोचन भी किया गया.
अपने संबोधन में जेएनयू के कुलपति प्रो एम जगदीश कुमार ने जेएनयू के ई लर्निंग केंद्र के जरिए विकलांग अध्ययन में नेतृत्व विकास पाठ्यक्रम शुरू किए जाने का आह्वान किया. इस दौरान भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा की अधिकारी व दिल्ली नगर निगम मे पदस्थापित ईरा सिंघल सहित पांच विकलांग युवतियों तथा महिलाओं को विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में विशिष्ट योगदान के जेएनयू के कुलपति ने सम्मानित किया.
कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत करते हुए जेएनयू के विकलांग अध्ययन विशेषज्ञ और संगोष्ठी के संयोजक डा जीएन कर्ण ने मोदी सरकार द्वारा विकलांगों के सशक्तीकरण की दिशा में उठाए गए कदमों का जिक्र किया. उन्होंने प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय में विकलांगता मामले में राष्ट्रीय परिषद गठित किए जाने की जोरदार वकालत की. उदघाटन सत्र को श्रीमती स्तुति कक्कड़, पूर्व सचिव विकलांगता विभाग भारत सरकार तथा उपमुख्य विकलांग आयुक्त डाॅ एसके प्रसाद एवं उत्तरी दिल्ली नगर निगम की उपायुक्त सुश्री ईरा सिंघल संबोधित किया. वक्ताओं ने विकलांग युवतियों तथा किशोरियों के सशक्तीकरण के मार्ग में विद्यमान बाधाओं पर प्रकाश डाला. बाद में सभी सत्रों में वक्ताओं ने अपने विचार व्यक्त किए.
