जब भी हम कोई नया कार्य शुरु करते हैं, तो सफलता की गारंटी सुनिश्चित करना चाहते हैं. इसके लिए परंपरा और लोकाचार का सहारा लेते हैं. इन्हीं परंपराओं में से एक है हाथों पर कलावा बांधना. कलावा को मौली भी कहते हैं. मौली का शाब्दिक अर्थ है सबसे ऊपर. मौली का तात्पर्य सिर से भी है. मौली को कलाई में बांधने के कारण इसे कलावा भी कहते हैं. इसका वैदिक नाम उप मणिबंध भी है. शंकर भगवान के सिर पर चन्द्रमा विराजमान हैं, इसीलिए उन्हें चंद्रमौली भी कहा जाता है.
आमतौर पर कलावा का रंग लाल और पीला होता है. केंद्रीय बजट को सदन के पटल पर पेश करने से पहले जो परंपरा चली आ रही थी, उसमें इस बार नई शुरुआत की गई है. साल 2019-20 का बजट न तो चमड़ा के बैग में था और न ही उसका रंग भूरा था. इस बार केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने बजट को लाल रंग के कपड़े में रखा और उसे लाल कलावा से बांधा.
बता दें कि कलावा कच्चे धागे से बनाई जाती है. इसमें मूलतः रंग के धागे होते हैं- लाल, पीला और हरा, लेकिन कभी-कभी ये 5 धागों की भी बनती है , जिसमें नीला और सफेद भी होता है. 3 और 5 का मतलब कभी त्रिदेव के नाम की, तो कभी पंचदेव. शास्त्रों का ऐसा मत है कि मौली बांधने से त्रिदेव- ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, महेश और तीनों देवियों- लक्ष्मी, पार्वती और सरस्वती की कृपा प्राप्त होती है.
अब सवाल उठता है कि आखिर कलावा का भारतीय परंपरा में क्या महत्व है ? आखिर कलावा हमारे संस्कार में कैसे जुड़ा ? आइए, हम बताते हैं आपको पूरी कहानी. असल में, रक्षा सूत्र या मौली बांधना वैदिक परंपरा का हिस्सा है. यज्ञ के दौरान इसे बांधे जाने की परंपरा तो पहले से ही रही है, लेकिन इसको संकल्प सूत्र के साथ ही रक्षा-सूत्र के रूप में बांधे जाने की वजह भी है और पौराणिक संबंध भी.
ऐसा माना जाता है कि असुरों के दानवीर राजा बलि की अमरता के लिए भगवान वामन ने उनकी कलाई पर रक्षा-सूत्र बांधा था. इसे रक्षाबंधन का भी प्रतीक माना जाता है, देवी लक्ष्मी ने राजा बलि के हाथों में अपने पति की रक्षा के लिए ये बंधन बांधा था. मौली को हाथ की कलाई, गले और कमर में बांधा जाता है. मन्नत के लिए किसी देवी-देवता के स्थान पर भी बांधा जाता है. मन्नत पूरी हो जाने पर इसे खोल दिया जाता है. मौली घर में लाई गई नई वस्तु को भी बांधा जाता है, इसे पशुओं को भी बांधा जाता है.
कलाई, पैर, कमर और गले में मौली बांधने के चिकित्सीय लाभ भी हैं. शरीर विज्ञान के अनुसार इससे त्रिदोष यानि वात, पित्त और कफ का संतुलन बना रहता है. ब्लड प्रेशर, हार्टअटैक, डायबिटीज और लकवा जैसे रोगों से बचाव के लिए मौली बांधना हितकर बताया गया है.
