आज पूरे मध्य प्रदेश में नर्मदा जयंती मनाई जा रही है। हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार माघ माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की सप्तमी को मनाई जाती है। मप्र के मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने नर्मदा जयंती पर जीवनदायिनी मां नर्मदा को नमन किया है। देश और मध्य प्रदेश की संस्कृति में नर्मदा नदी का विशेष महत्व है। नर्मदा नदी मध्य प्रदेश के लोगों की आस्था से जुड़ी हुई है।
मध्य प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री चौहान ने ट्वीट कर नर्मदा जयंती पर शुभकामनाएं देते हुए प्रदेश की खुशहाली की कामना की है। मुख्यमंत्री ने अपने ट्वीट संदेश में लिखा ‘त्वदीय पाद पंकजम नमामि देवी नर्मदे! अपने दिव्य जल से कंकर-कंकर को शंकर बना देने वाली मां नर्मदा को जयंती पर कोटि-कोटि नमन् करता हूं! हे मैया, अपने अमृत तुल्य जल से हमारे खेतों व जीवन को धन्य बनाये रखिये और सुख, समृद्धि, खुशहाली का आशीर्वाद दीजिये। हर हर नर्मदे!
बता दें कि मध्य प्रदेश की जीवनदायनी पुण्य सलिला मां नर्मदा का दो दिवसीय जन्मोत्सव कार्यक्रम मनाया जा रहा है। मुख्य समारोह आज प्रसिद्ध पर्यटन स्थल सेठानी घाट पर मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान के मुख्यातिथ्य में भव्यता के साथ मनाया जाएगा। इस कार्यक्रम के लिए सेठानी घाट सहित अन्य घाटों पर विशेष साज सज्जा की गई है।
पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, एक दिन भोलेनाथ अपनी तपस्या में लीन थे। तपस्या करते समय उनके शरीर से पसीना निकला और उसी से ही नर्मदा का जन्म हुआ। नर्मदा का अर्थ है सुख प्रदान करने वाली। इसलिए भगवान शिव ने उस कन्या को आशीर्वाद दिया और कहा की जो व्यक्ति तुम्हारा दर्शन करेगा, उसके सारे पाप नष्ट हो जाएंगे। वह मैखल पर्वत पर उत्पन्न हुई थीं इसलिए वह मैखल राज की पुत्री भी कहलाती हैं।
