KumKum or Kamila Tree: भारतीय संस्कृति में सिंदूर का बड़ा महत्व है। खास कर सुहागिन महिलाओं यानी कि विवाहित स्त्रियों में । शादी और सिंदूर का महत्व इतना खास है कि अगर इसकी डीबिया गलती से भी नीचे गिर जाती है तो सुहागिन औरतें काफी डर जाती है। मान्यता है कि सिंदूर का गिरना या पांव से इसका स्पर्श होना अशुभ की निशानी है। आजा कल वैसे त हर बाजार में सौंदर्य प्रसाधन से जुड़े हर दुकान पर सिंदूर आसानी से उपलब्ध हो जाता है। और शायद आप जानते भी हों कि सिंदूर को हल्दी चुने और मरकरी को मिलाकर बनाया जाता है लेकिन क्या आपको पता है, सिंदूर का एक पौधा भी होता है? जी हां चौकिये नहीं सिंदूर सिर्फ हल्दी, चुने और मरकरी से ही नहीं बनता है बल्कि इसका एक खास तरह का पौधा भी होता है। जी हां सिंदूर के इस पौधे को कुमकुम ट्री (KumKum Tree) या कमिला ट्री (Kamila Tree) कहते हैं।
जी हां इस कुमकुम ट्री या कमिला ट्री से जो फल निकलते हैं उससे पाउडर और लिक्विड फॉर्म में सिंदूर जैसा एक लाल डाई बनता है। कई लोग तो इसे लिपस्टिक ट्री भी कहते हैं, क्योंकि इसमें से जो रंग निकलता है उससे तो प्राकृतिक तौर पर ही आपके होठ लाल हो सकते हैं। जी हां वैसे तो सिंदूर का पौधा उत्तरी अमेरिका और एशिया के कुछ ही स्थानों में पाया जाता है। हालांकि भारत में सिंदूर का पौधा महाराष्ट्र और हिमाचल प्रदेश के कुछ गिने-चुने इलाकों में ही पाया उगाया जाता है। सिंदूर का पौधा आसानी से देखने को नहीं मिलता। इसके एक पौधे में से एक बार में लगभग एक से डेढ़ किलो तक सिंदूर का फल निकल सकता है।
कुमकुम ट्री या कमिला ट्री अमरूद के पेड़ के इतना ही ऊंचा होता है। लगभग 20 से 25 फीट तक। सिंदूर के पेड़ के फल में जो बीज होता है उसे पीसकर सिंदूर बनाया जाता है। चूंकि यह बिल्कुल प्राकृतिक होता है इसलिए इससे कोई नुकसान भी नहीं है। कहते हैं चुना हल्दी और मरकरी यानी कि पारा से बने सिंदूर से नुकसान होने का भी खतरा रहता है। वैसे तो कमिला के पेड़ के फल गुच्छों में लगते हैं जिनका रंग शुरूआत में हरे रंग का होता है लेकिन बाद में यह फल पक कर अपना रंग बदल लेता है और लाल रंग का हो जाता है। फल के अंदर के बीज को पीसकर बिना किसी चीज की मिलावट के सीधे तौर पर उपयोग में लाया जा सकता है। यह पूर्णत: सुरक्षित होता है।
आपको जानकर हैरानी होगी, इस फल के बीज को पीसकर जो लाल रंग बनाया जाता है उसे कहीं कहीं तो भोजन को लाल रंग देने में भी करते हैं। यानी कि यह खाने में भी पूर्णत: सुरक्षित है। कमीला के पेड़ से निकलने वाले सिंदूर की उपयोग कर उच्च श्रेणी की लिपस्टिक भी बनाया जाता है। तो है ना बहुत खुबियों वाला पेड़ । आप भी इस पेड़ को दो तरीकों से लगा सकते हैं। पहला तो इसके बीज की मदद से इसे उगाया जा सकता है और दूसरा इसके तैयार पौधे को कलम की मदद से लगाया जाता है। हांलांकि इसके पौधे को आसानी से घर में नहीं उगाया जा सकता। इसके लिए एक अलग तरह की जलवायु की आवश्यकता होती है।
