Mandi House Area, Delhi: राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र दिल्ली के मंडी हाउस का नाम तो आपने काफी बार सुना होगा| आप यहां आए भी होंगे या यहां से गुजरे भी होंगे| यह भारतीय सभ्यता व ललित कलाओं का केंद्र है| यहां आपको साहित्य अकादमी, संगीत-नाटक अकादमी और ललित कला अकादमी से लेकर राष्ट्रीय नाट्य विद्यालय (एनएसडी) तक का मुख्यालय मिल जाएगा।यह जगह कलाकारों के लिए स्वर्ग से कम नहीं है | जानकार बताते हैं कि 70 के दशक में यह कलाकारों का हब बन गया था| बात करें इस जगह के इतिहास की। यहां 1940 तक मंडी हाउस के 18वें राजा रहा करते थे| कलाकारों का हब बनने के पहले से यहां राज परिवार का राज चलता था| वक्त के साथ साथ राज परिवार का राज खत्म हो गया| बाद में राजा के महल की जगह हिमाचल भवन और दूरदर्शन की नींव रखी गई थी| आपको बता दें कि राजा का नाम सर जोगिंदर सेन बहादुर था। इनके महल के साथ ही बेहद खूबसूरत बगीचे का जिक्र भी किया जाता है।
अगर मंडी हाउस के आप पुराने नक्शों को देखें तो आपको जे सर्कल का जिक्र मिलेगा, जिसे जयसिंहपुरा गांव के नाम से जाना जाता था| कहा जाता है कि जब अंग्रेजों ने अपनी राजधानी कोलकाता से नई दिल्ली बदली थी| तब जयसिंहपुरा गांव के आस-पास के कई भूखंडों को शाही रियासतों में आवंटित किया था। जिनमें बहावलपुर, नाभा, जींद, मलेरकोटला और मंडी का नाम आता है। आपको बता दें कि राजा जोगिंदर सेन बहादुर ने अपने महल के निर्माण की शुरूआत साल 1930 में की थी, जिसे मंडी हाऊस कहा जाता था| वर्तमान में जहां हिमाचल भवन है वो ठीक उसके नजदीक हुआ करता था। इतिहासकार बताते हैं कि यहां दो मंजिला महल था जिस पर एक छोटा सा गुबंद भी हुआ करता था। आपको यह जानकर हैरानी होगी कि मंडी हाउस का नाम भी राजा के महल के नाम पर रखा गया है|
आज़ादी के बाद साल 1955 में पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने मंडी हाऊस सर्किल के दूसरी तरफ बाराखंभा रोड पर सप्रू हाऊस का उद्धाटन किया था| उनको शायद यह तब पता भी नहीं था कि आगे जाकर यह सांस्कृतिक प्रदर्शनों का केंद्र बन जाएगा। हैरानी की बात यह है कि आपको यहां कोई राजमहल देखने को नहीं मिलेगा| लेकिन नाटक में बने राजाओं को आप देख सकते हैं| मंडी हाउस ने अपने अंदर आधुनिक और परम्परा को समेट कर रखा हुआ है| यहां पर स्थित राष्ट्रीय नाट्य विद्यालय (एनएसडी) बेहद ही फेमस है। जहां कई छोटे छोटे शहरों से लोग अपने कलाकार बनने के सपनों को लेकर आते है| मंडी हाउस केवल राजधानी में स्थित जगहा ही नहीं बल्कि भारत का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा भी है, जो की कई लोगों के कलाकार बनने के सपनों को भी साकार करता है|
