मीना बाजार- इतिहास के पन्नों में
मीना बाजार को लेकर कई सारी कहानियां हैं। कुछ इसे हुमायू के द्वारा बनाया बोलते है तो कुछ अकबर के द्वारा। कुछ लोगों का तो मानना है कि इसे शाहजहां ने डिजाइन किया था। खैर शुरू जिसने भी किया हो। इतना तो तय है कि यह बाजार उस वक्त के सबसे बेहतरीन बाजारों में से एक था। इसे “बाजर-ए-मुसक्काफ” के नाम से जाना जाता था। जिसका अर्थ होता है-छत वाला बाजार। यह शाही परिवारों के लिए एक लक्जरी बाजार की तरह ही था। जिसमें कई यूनीक सामानों की खरीद-फरोक्त हुआ करती थी। जैसे कालीन, केसर, मसाले, कीमती पत्थर, हाथी दांत के काम और महंगे गहने।
कुछ इतिहासकारों का मानना है कि यह मीना बाजार सिर्फ महिलाओं के लिए ही होता था, यानी कि इसमें दुकान भी महिलाएं लगाती थी और खरीदार भी महिलाएं ही होती थी। मीना बाजार में मुगल शाही परिवार की महिलाएं जब खरीदारी को आती थी तो वह यहां पर बिक रहे सामानों की मुह मांगी कीमत अदा करती थी। इस मीना बाजार से प्राप्त आय से गरीबों की मदद भी की जाती थी।
कुछ तो इसे मुगलों के अय्याशी का दूसरा अड्डा बताते हैं। लेकिन इतिहास के जानकारों ने इस बात की कोई पुष्टि नहीं की है। हां सभी इस बात पर सहमत जरूर हैं कि अकबर के शासनकाल में मीना बाजार को इसलिए प्रसिद्धि मिली थी क्योंकि यहाँ के खरीदारों में दूर दूर के शाही परिवारों की भागीदारी हुआ करती थी।

मुगलों के समय के इस नामचीन बाजार के कुछ अंश आज भी आपको देखने को मिल जाएंगे। अगर आपको आज के मीना बाजार तक पहुंचना है तो आपको लाल किले के लाहौर गेट की तरफ से पहुंचना होगा। जब आप नौबत खाना या दीवान-ए-आम की ओर चलेंगे तो आपको बीच में एक अष्टकोणीय कोर्ट यानी कि छत्तर-मंजिल मिलेगा। इस बाजार में आप कालीन, हाथ से बुनी हुई चादरें, पश्मीना शॉल, सजावट के सामान, शोपीस, शाही कटलरी के साथ कई और यूनिक सामान मिल जाएंगे।
