मोरारजी देसाई राष्ट्रीय योग संस्थान भारत एवं दुनिया के प्रमुख योग संस्थानों में से एक है, जो मुख्य रूप से योग शिक्षा, योग प्रशिक्षण, योग चिकित्सा और योग अनुसंधान से जुड़ा हुआ है. यह दिल्ली में है. मोरारजी देसाई राष्ट्रीय योग संस्थान इंदिरा गांधी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे से लगभग 20 किलोमीटर और नई दिल्ली रेलवे स्टेशन से लगभग 2 किमी दूर है. मोरारजी देसाई राष्ट्रीय योग संस्थान भारत का एक शिक्षा संस्थान है जो योग की संस्कृति के उन्नयन की दिशा में कार्यरत है. यह भारत सरकार के स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय के आयुष विभाग द्वारा स्थापित किया गया था. इसका उद्देश्य भारतीय योग संस्कृति की महत्वता को बनाए रखना है. वर्ष 1966 में केंद्रीय अनुसंधान संस्थान और 1970 में विश्वायतन योगाश्रम के नाम से चलने वाले योग संस्थान को 1997 में मोरार जी देसाई राष्ट्रीय योग संस्थान की उपमा मिली.
योग से जुड़े कई प्रकार के पाठ्यक्रम यहां चलाए जाते हैं. समय-समय पर योग शिक्षकों की भर्ती भी की जाती है. सबसे बड़ी बात यह है कि इस संस्थान का मूल उद्देश्य लोगों को निरोग रखना है. इसके लिए संस्थान समय-समय पर कई प्रकार के कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन करता रहता है. यहां के विशेषज्ञ बताते हैं कि साल 2014 तक योग के प्रति लोगों में उतना उत्साह और जागरूकता नहीं देखने को मिली मगर मोदी सरकार द्वारा योग को 21 जून को अंतरराष्ट्रीय योग दिवस घोषित करने के बाद लोगों में काफी जागरूकता आयी है. हमारे संस्थान में कई डिप्लोमा कोर्स योग में कराए जाते हैं जिनमें 1 साल के डिप्लोमा कोर्स में अभी 120 छात्र हैं इतनी संख्या कभी नहीं रही. मोरार जी देसाई योग संस्थान में सुबह 6 बजे से नि:शुल्क योग प्रशिक्षण दिया जा रहा है. योग द्वारा लोगों में शारीरिक स्वस्थता को लेकर जागरूकता बढ़े इसलिए दिल्ली के स्टेडियमों में जेएल नेहरू, ध्यान चंद्र, इंदिरा गांधी और तालकटोरा में भी योग शिविर चलाए जा रहे हैं.
योग की वैश्विक लोकप्रियता का अंदाजा इस बात से लगाया जा सकता है कि पिछले वर्ष ही आईसीसीआर द्वारा 200 योग प्रशिक्षकों की नियुक्ति विभिन्न देशों की मांग पर वहां की गई. इससे एक तो शरीर स्वस्थ, दूसरा अगर आप इसमें प्रवीण हो गए तो ये कमाई का अच्छा साधन है.
मोरार जी देसाई राष्ट्रीय योग संस्थान की बात करें तो यहां हर रोज कई मरीज तमाम शारीरिक बीमारियों से ग्रसित होकर आते हैं और योग से वो ठीक होकर ही यहां से जाते हैं. डायबिटीज, कमर दर्द, सर्वाइकल, माइग्रेन, अर्थराइटिस, पैरालिसिस, अस्थमा, मस्कुलर डिस्ऑर्डर, पैरीफेरल न्यूरोथेरेपी, एडीएचडी आदि बीमारियों से ग्रसित बच्चे, युवा और वयोवृद्ध जन यहां आकर योग द्वारा अपनी बीमारी से निजात पा रहे हैं.
