ओरछा जितना पौराणिक उतना ही ऐतिहासिक भी!
मध्यप्रदेश का ओरछा जमुना की सहायक नदी बेतवा नदी के किनारे बसा एक पौराणिक शहर है। ओरछा भारतीय इतिहास की स्थापत्य कला का बेजौड़ नमूना है। इसी खूबी के कारण यह देश विदेश के सैलानियों के लिए कौतुहल का विषय है। गंगा यमुनी संस्कृति की बात करें तो ओरछा के लिए सटीक बैठती है। एक तरफ राजा राम का मंदिर और ठीक उसके सामने जहाँगीर का महल इसका जीता जागता प्रमाण है ओरछा! एक तरफ शूरवीरों की धरा है तो दूसरी तरफ कई काव्यों की जननी भी! झाँसी से मात्र 16 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित ओरछा का समृद्ध इतिहास है।
पौराणिक इतिहास: ओरछा को राजाराम की धरती माना जाता है। कहा जाता है कि यहाँ राम को भगवान नहीं राजा के नाम से जाना जाता है। 400 वर्ष पूर्व भगवान श्रीराम का ओरछा में राज्याभिषेक हुआ था। उसके बाद से निर्विवाद रूप से श्रीराम को राजा राम के रुप में पूजा जाता है। जन श्रुतियों के अनुसार भगवान राम के ओरछा से सम्बन्ध को लेकर एक कहानी प्रचलित है! बुंदेलो के तीसरे राजा मधुकर शाह की पत्नी कुंवरी देवी श्रीराम की अनन्य भक्त थीं! ऐसा कहा जाता कि उनकी जिद के कारण भगवान राम को ओरछा आना पड़ा।
मधुकर शाह ने एक दिन रानी से परिहास में कहा तुम श्री राम की इतनी पूजा करती हो तो श्री राम को यहीं क्यों नहीं बुला लेती! राजा के विनोद से रानी क्षुब्ध हो गई और राम को अयोध्या लाने का प्रण लेकर अयोध्या की और अकेले ही चल पड़ी। अयोध्या के समीप सरयू नदी के लक्ष्मण घाट पर राम जी की अराधना करने लगी। काफी समय बीतने के बाद रानी कुंवरी देवी श्री राम के प्रसन्न न होने पर निराश हो गई। निराश होकर उन्होने स्वयं को समाप्त करने के लिए सरयू नदी में छलांग लगा दी। राम जिसके अराध्य हो उसका काल भी आखिर क्या बिगाड़ सकता है। श्री राम ने बाल रूप में रानी को दर्शन दिए। रानी की भक्ति से प्रसन्न होकर श्री राम राजा राम बन कर ओरछा आ गए।
ओरछा में राजराम का चतुर्भुज मंदिर महल की तरह प्रतीत होता है। यहाँ श्रीराम पद्मासन मुद्रा में आसीन हैं। साथ ही यहाँ माता जानकी और लक्षमण की प्रतिमाएं भी हैं। श्री राम को यहाँ आज भी राजा की तरह सम्मान दिया जाता है। सिर्फ स्थानीय निवासी ही नहीं बल्कि रोज सुबह और शाम पुलिस के सिपाही भी राजा राम को “गॉड ऑफ़ ऑनर”(सलामी) देते हैं।
इतिहास:- ओरछा का राज प्रतिहारों से चंदेलों के हाथ लगा। कालांतर में चंदेलों के अकुशल शासको को बुंदेलों ने गद्दी से हटा कर ओरछा पर अपना राज किया। बुंदेल के कई शाशकों ने वीरता के अतुलनीय किस्से प्रचलित हैं। चंदेलों के ही शूरवीर महाराज रूद्र प्रताप ने ओरछा का नामकरण किया। बुंदेलों ने अफगानी आक्रमणकारी इब्राहीम और सिकंदर लोधी को हराया था। ओरछा के राजा मधुकर शाह अकबर के समकालीन थे। जिन्होंने अकबर की आधीनता न स्वीकारते हुए मुगलों से कई युद्ध लडे! बुंदेलों पर विजय प्राप्त करने की कोशिश शाहजहाँ ने भी की किन्तु उसे हर बार मुंह की खानी पढ़ी। बाद में राजा वीर सिंह के जहाँगीर से दोस्ताना सम्बन्ध हो गए जिसका प्रमाण है ओरछा का जहाँगीर महल!

जहाँगीर का महल-: बुन्देल राजा वीर सिंह राय ने जहाँगीर से दोस्ती के कारण 17 वीं शताब्दी में इस पांच मंजिला महल का निर्माण कराया। हिन्दू और इस्लामिक वास्तु कला का शानदार संयोजन महल को और ख़ास बनाता है। इतिहास गवाह है कि यदि राजा वीर सिंह न होते तो जहाँगीर कभी भी सम्राट नहीं बन पाते। इसी कारण जहाँगीर ने इसी किले के प्रांगण से वीर सिंह को सम्पूर्ण बुंदेलखंड का शासक बना दिया।
राजमहल:- आज से 485 साल पहले राजा रूद्र प्रताप सिंह ने बेतवा दी के किनरे एक पहाड़ी टापू पर राजमहल का निर्माण करवाया था। यह किला तीन पीढ़ियों के सामूहिक प्रयास का परिणाम है। सन 531 में प्रतापी राजा रूद्र प्रताप की दुर्घटना में मृत्यु के बाद उनके बड़े पुत्र राजभारती ने राजमहल के मुख्यभाग का निर्माण करवाया। शेष भाग का निर्माण बुदेलों के तीसरे राजा मधुकर द्वारा करवाया गया। यह निर्माण 1554 से 1592 तक चला। राजमहल के अन्दर भित्तिचित्रों का शानदार नमूना तत्कालीन भारत की धनी कला का परिचायक है। राजमहल की दीवारों पर भारतीय पौराणिक कथाओं का समायोजन किया गया हैं।
शीश महल:- जहाँगीर महल के समीप ही निर्माण की बेजौड़ नमूना शीशमहल स्थित है। शीशमहल को पैलेस ऑफ़ मिरर के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। राजा उदैत सिंह ने इसका निर्माण करवाया था। भारतीय स्थापत्य का शानदार नमूना अब होटल में बदल दिया गया है जहाँ विदेशी पर्यटकों का जमवाडा साल भर लगा रहता हैं।
रायप्रवीण महल-: यदि ओरछा ने महान योद्धा दिए हैं तो रायप्रवीण जैसी नृत्यांगना भी दी है। इसी नृत्यांगना के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है ओराचा का रायप्रवीण महल! रायप्रवीन महल को प्रेम का प्रतीक भी माना जाता है। राजा मधुकर के छोटे पुत्र इन्द्रजीत ने अपनी प्रेमिका रायप्रवीण के नाम पर इस महल का निर्माण करवाया था।
14 छतरी- ओरछा में बनी 14 छतरियों की बात यदि न करें तो लेख पूरा नहीं होगा। छतरी मृत्यु के बाद अंतयेष्टी क्रिया स्थल के ऊपर बने गुंबदों को कहा जाता था। बुंदेलों के महान राजाओं और विशिष्ट व्यक्तियों के योगदान के लिए in छत्रियों का निर्माण कराया गया था। वास्तुकला की इस दृष्टि से यह भी दर्शनीय स्थल है।
