पंचांग का अनुवाद ‘पांच अंग’ के रूप में किया जाता है जो भारतीय ज्योतिष की सबसे महत्वपूर्ण नींव है। हम कह सकते हैं कि पंचांग वैदिक ज्योतिष की डायरी या कैलेंडर है। पंचांग किसी व्यक्ति की कुंडली तैयार करने और अपनी जिंदगी की भविष्यवाणियों को तैयार करने के लिए सभी आवश्यक जानकारी प्रदान करता है। पंचांग में प्रत्येक दिन की विशेषताओं की विस्तृत जानकारी है। दिन के पंचांग से परामर्श किए बिना, किसी व्यक्ति की कुंडली कभी तैयार नहीं की जा सकती है।
यह मूल प्रणाली या फ्रेम कार्य है जिस पर ज्योतिष की पूरी प्रणाली की भविष्यवाणी की जाती है। पंचांग रीडिंग किसी व्यक्ति के लिए किसी दिए गए दिन की संभावनाओं का निर्णय लेने में मदद कर सकती है। इसके अलावा, पंचांग विभिन्न घटनाओं और त्यौहारों के लिए शुभ समय को ठीक करने में मदद करता है।
वैदिक ज्योतिष ने पृथ्वी के ऊपर आकाश को बारह राशि चक्र या नक्षत्रों में विभाजित किया है। नक्षत्र सितारों का समूह हैं जो राशि चक्रों में से प्रत्येक को बनाते हैं। कुल मिलाकर बीस सात नक्षत्र हैं या सितार बारह नक्षत्र या राशि चक्र गाते हैं। आकाश में चंद्रमा की स्थिति के संबंध में दिन का नक्षत्र फैसला किया जाता है। एक योग की गणना चंद्रमा और सूर्य के निर्याण रेखांश के कुल के आधार पर की जाती है और कुल मिलाकर 27 भागों में 13 डिग्री 20 ‘प्रत्येक सेगमेंट में विभाजित होती है।
कुल योग में 27 योग हैं। करण योग का आधा है। एक करण खत्म हो गया है जब चंद्रमा के निर्याण देशांतर सूर्य के संबंध में हर 6 डिग्री प्राप्त करता है। इसलिए दो करन एक तीथी बनाते हैं। कुल में चार ग्यारह करन हैं, चार निश्चित और सात चलने योग्य हैं।
जैसा कि प्राचीन समय से बताया गया है कि हर क्रिया के विपरीत प्रतिक्रिया होती है। इसी तरह जब कोई व्यक्ति पर्यावरण के अनुरूप कार्य करता है तो पर्यावरण प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के साथ समान तरीके से कार्य करता है। एक शुभ कार्य प्रारम्भ करने से पहले महत्वपूर्ण तिथि का चयन करने में हिन्दू पंचांग मुख्य भूमिका निभाता है।
पंचांग एक निश्चित स्थान और समय के लिये सूर्य, चन्द्रमा और अन्य ग्रहों की स्थिति को दर्शाता है। विश्वविजय पंचांग 100 वर्षों की जानकारी रखता है जो सभी के लिए बहुत दुलर्भ है। संक्षेप में पंचांग एक शुभ दिन, तारीख और समय पे शुभ कार्य आरंभ करने और किसी भी तरह के नकारात्मक प्रभाव को नष्ट करने का विचार प्रदान करता है। आज के दिन का पंचांग जानने के लिए आप हिन्दू कैलेंडर या गुजराती कैलेंडर देख सकते हैं।
जब चन्द्र एवं सूर्य के मध्य 12 अंश का अन्तर होता है तब एक तिथि की पूर्ति होती है। इसीलिए एक चन्द्रमास में {360 अंश भ्रमण करने में} 30 तिथियाॅ होती है। दिन का मान एक सूर्योदय से दूसरे सूर्योदय पर्यन्त होता है। नक्षत्रमण्डल अथवा क्रान्तिवृत्त को आठ सौ कलाओं से विभक्त करने पर 27 समान भाग होते है। प्रत्येक भाग को नक्षत्र और उसे भोगने में चन्द्र को जितना समय लगता है, उसे नक्षत्र का मान कहते हैं। कुल 27 नक्षत्र होते है।
भारतीय पंचांग पद्धित निरयण चान्द्र सौरात्मक हैं। वर्ष प्रमाण निरयण सौरवर्ष के अनुसार तथा मास चान्द्रमान के अनुसार दिये जाते हैं किन्तु सौर एवं चान्द्र वर्षो में प्रायः 11 दिन का अन्तर प्रत्येक वर्ष परिलक्षित होता है। इसीलिए लगभग प्रति तीसरे वर्ष { 32 मास 16 दिन 4 घटी पर} एक अधिमास प्रक्षेपण का आविष्कार हमारे मनीषियों ने किया है, जिसके कारण ऋतुओं एवं मासों में सामांजस्य बना रहता हैं। इस प्रकार भारतीय पंचांग पद्धित में सौर चान्द्रमासों का सन्तुलन स्वमेव होता है।
हिन्दू पंचांग का उपयोग भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में प्राचीन काल से होता आ रहा है और आज भी भारत और नेपाल सहित कम्बोडिया, लाओस, थाईलैण्ड, बर्मा, श्री लंका आदि में भी प्रयुक्त होता है। हिन्दू पंचांग के अनुसार ही हिन्दुओं/बौद्धों/जैनों/सिखों के त्यौहार होली, गणेश चतुर्थी, सरस्वती पूजा, महाशिवरात्रि, वैशाखी, रक्षा बन्धन, पोंगल, ओणम ,रथ यात्रा, नवरात्रि, लक्ष्मी पूजा, कृष्ण जन्माष्टमी, दुर्गा पूजा, रामनवमी, विसु और दीपावली आदि मनाए जाते हैं।
भारत में प्रयुक्त होने वाले प्रमुख पञ्चाङ्ग ये हैं-
(१) विक्रमी पञ्चाङ्ग – यह सर्वाधिक प्रसिद्ध पञ्चाङ्ग है जो भारत के उत्तरी, पश्चिमी और मध्य भाग में प्रचलित है।
(२) तमिल पञ्चाङ्ग – दक्षिण भारत में प्रचलित है,
(३) बंगाली पञ्चाङ्ग – बंगाल तथा कुछ अन्य पूर्वी भागों में प्रचलित है।
(४) मलयालम पञ्चाङ्ग – यह केरल में प्रचलित है और सौर पंचाग है।
पंचांग काल दिन को नामांकित करने की एक प्रणाली है। पंचांग के चक्र को खगोलकीय तत्वों से जोड़ा जाता है। 12 मास का 1 वर्ष और 7 दिन का 1 सप्ताह रखने का प्रचलन विक्रम संवत से शुरू हुआ। महीने का हिसाब सूर्य व चन्द्रमा की गति पर रखा जाता है। 30 तिथियों के नाम निम्न हैं:- पूर्णिमा (पूरनमासी), प्रतिपदा (पड़वा), द्वितीया (दूज), तृतीया (तीज), चतुर्थी (चौथ), पंचमी (पंचमी), षष्ठी (छठ), सप्तमी (सातम), अष्टमी (आठम), नवमी (नौमी), दशमी (दसम), एकादशी (ग्यारस), द्वादशी (बारस), त्रयोदशी (तेरस), चतुर्दशी (चौदस) और अमावस्या (अमावस)। पूर्णिमा से अमावस्या तक 15 और फिर अमावस्या से पूर्णिमा तक 30 तिथि होती है। तिथियों के नाम 16 ही होते हैं।
वार क्या है?
एक माह में चार सप्ताह होते हैं। इन 4 सप्ताह के दिनों को वार कहते हैं। ये 7 वार हैं- 1. रविवार, 2. सोमवार, 3. मंगलवार, 4. बुधवार, 5. गुरुवार, 6. शुक्रवार और 7. शनिवार। प्रत्येक वार को सोच-समझकर ही नियुक्त किया गया है। प्रत्येक वार को आपकी मानसिक और शारीरिक दशा भिन्न होती है।
नक्षत्र क्या है ?
आकाश में तारामंडल के विभिन्न रूपों में दिखाई देने वाले आकार को नक्षत्र कहते हैं। मूलत: नक्षत्र 27 माने गए हैं। ज्योतिषियों द्वारा एक अन्य अभिजीत नक्षत्र भी माना जाता है। चन्द्रमा उक्त 27 नक्षत्रों में भ्रमण करता है।
योग क्या है ?
सूर्य-चन्द्र की विशेष दूरियों की स्थितियों को योग कहते हैं। योग 27 प्रकार के होते हैं। दूरियों के आधार पर बनने वाले 27 योगों के नाम क्रमश: इस प्रकार हैं- 1.विष्कुम्भ, 2.प्रीति, 3.आयुष्मान, 4.सौभाग्य, 5.शोभन, 6.अतिगण्ड, 7.सुकर्मा, 8.धृति, 9.शूल, 10.गण्ड, 11.वृद्धि, 12.ध्रुव, 13.व्याघात, 14.हर्षण, 15.वज्र, 16.सिद्धि, 17.व्यतिपात, 18.वरीयान, 19.परिध, 20.शिव, 21.सिद्ध, 22.साध्य, 23.शुभ, 24.शुक्ल, 25.ब्रह्म, 26.इन्द्र और 27.वैधृति।
