रामायण धारावाहिक जिसने लगाया था जनता कर्फ्यू!
जैसा कि आप लोग जानते ही हैं 28 मार्च 2020 से प्रातः और रात 9 बजे से रामानंद सागर कृत रामायण का दुबारा प्रसारण होने जा रहा है। 90 के दशक में रामायण के प्रसारण के समय सड़कें खाली हो जाती थी। यह जनता द्वारा स्वेच्छा से लगाया गया जनता कर्फ्यू था! यह रामानंद सागर का रामायण धारवाहिक ही था, जिसने टेलीविजन को बुलंदियों तक पहुंचाया।
टेलीविजन आज घर घर के लिए एक जरुरी सामान बन चूका है। एक समय ऐसा भी था जब टेलीविजन स्टेटस सिम्बल माना जाता था। भारत मे टीवी 1959 से चलन में आया। प्रारम्भ में इसे टेलीविजन इंडिया के नाम से जाना जाता था। इसकी पहुँच तब उच्च माध्यम वर्ग तक ही थी। टेलीविजन इंडिया के दूरदर्शन बनने के बाद इसकी लोकप्रियता में उछाल आया। जो 1982 के एशियन खेलों के बाद तो यह घर के लिए जरुरी सामान बन गया। बुनियाद और हम लोग जैसे धारवाहिकों ने इसे लोगों की जुबान पर ला दिया किन्तु रामानंद सागर द्वार निर्मित रामायण ने टेलीविजन को घरों में अपरिहार्य बना दिया।
रामायण बनाने के पीछे की कहानी भी कम दिलचस्प नहीं है! रामानंद सागर के पुत्र प्रेम सागर ने अपनी किताब ‘एन एपिक लाइक ऑफ रामानंद सागर फ्रॉम बरसात टू रामायण’ में रामनन्द सागर के टेलीविजन प्रेम के बारे में लिखा है। रामानंद सागर को रामायण जैसे धारवाहिकों का आइडिया चरस फिल्म की शूटिंग के दौरान स्विट्जरलैंड के एक रेस्त्रां में मिला। रेस्त्रां में उनकी टेबल पर रखे छोटे रंगीन टेलीविजन को देखकर ही उन्होने पौराणिक कहानियों को जन-जन तक पहुंचाने का संकल्प लिया।
स्विट्जरलैंड से वापस आने के बाद दोस्तों को जब उन्होने अपने विचार के बारे में बताया। बॉलीवुड में जमा जमा व्यवसाय छोड़कर टेलीविजन की और जाना सबको मूर्खतापूर्ण लगा। पर राम ने जिसको अपने काज के लिए चुना भला वह मार्ग से कैसे विचलित होता?
रामनन्द रामायण से पहले ‘विक्रम और बेताल’ नाम का धरावाहिक लेकर आए। दर्शकों ने इसे हाथों-हाथ लिया। उन दिनों दूरदर्शन में धारवाहिक के प्रसारण की अनुमति मिलना टेढ़ी खीर हुआ करती थी। विक्रम बेताल को थोड़ी अड़चनों के प्रसारण की अनुमति मिल गई! किन्तु रामायण का प्रसारण दूरदर्शन के गले नहीं उतरा क्योंकि दूरदर्शन में उस समय राजनैतिक दखल बहुत ज्यादा था।
आखिर दूरदर्शन के अधिकारियों ने रामानंद सागर की जिद के आगे घुटने टेक दिए और रामानंद सागर की रामायण को प्रसारण की अनुमति सरकार से ले ली। अजित कुमार पांजा उस समय सूचना व प्रसारण विभाग संभाल रहे थे। 25 जनवरी 1989 को ये रामायण का प्रसारण दूरदर्शन पर शुरू हुआ। उसके बाद जो हुआ वह इतिहास है।
