सभ्यता द्वार : पाटलिपुत्र में सम्राट अशोक की दास्ताँ
अब तक मुंबई में गेटवे ऑफ इंडिया और नई दिल्ली में इंडिया गेट था. अब पटना में भारत का तीसरा गेट बना है, जिसे गेटवे ऑफ बिहार कहा जा रहा है. बिहार की राजधानी पटना में गंगा तट पर बने इस गेट का नाम दिया गया है – सभ्यता द्वार. यह विशाल “सभ्यता द्वार“ पाटलिपुत्र की समृद्ध सभ्यता का अहसास कराएगा. 32 मीटर ऊंचे और 8 मीटर चौड़े इस गेटवे ऑफ बिहार को बनाने में 590 करोड़ रुपये खर्च किए गए हैं. गांधी मैदान के उत्तर और अशोका इंटरनेशनल कन्वेंशन सेंटर परिसर के पीछे इसे एक एकड़ में बनाया गया है. इसे बनाने में डेढ़ साल का समय लगा है. मुंबई के गेटवे ऑफ इंडिया (26 मीटर) से भी 6 मीटर ऊंचा और पटना के गोलघर (29 मीटर) से भी ऊंचाई अधिक है.
चीफ ऑफ द आर्मी स्टाफ ने की थी पहल
पटना के ही निवासी चीफ ऑफ द आर्मी स्टाफ रहे एसके सिन्हा ने सबसे पहले यह प्रस्ताव तैयार कर सरकार को दिया था. जब मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार सत्ता में आए, तब एसके सिन्हा ने उनसे मिलकर यह प्रस्ताव सौंपा था, जिसे मुख्यमंत्री ने स्वीकार कर लिया था. एसके सिन्हा ने जो प्रस्ताव तैयार किया था, उसमें द्वार का नाम सम्राट अशोक के नाम पर रखने का सुझाव दिया था. बाद में इसे अशोक द्वार के बदले सभ्यता द्वार का नाम दिया गया.
यह बिहार और प्राचीन पाटलिपुत्र के गौरव का बोध कराता एक ऐसा सभ्यता द्वार है, जिसने सदियों की गौरवगाथा को समेटा है. इस पर जैन तीर्थंकर भगवान महावीर, बौद्ध धर्म के तीर्थंकर भगवान बुद्ध के भी संदेश लिखे हुए है. पहली बार विशाल एकीकृत भारत को साकार करनेवाले चंद्रगुप्त मौर्य भी हैं, तो बौद्ध धर्म को देश-दुनिया में फैलानेवाले महान सम्राट अशोक संदेश भी हैं. इस सभ्यता द्वार से सारी दुनिया को एक अच्छा संदेश जाएगा.
सभ्यता और अस्मिता का वाहक
सभ्यता द्वार के सबसे ऊपर बौद्ध स्तूप की आकृति बनाई गई है. सभ्यता द्वार में दो छोटा और एक बड़ा द्वार है. द्वार के चारों ओर आकर्षक रोशनी, गार्डनिंग, लैंड स्केपिंग और गंगा मेरीन ड्राइव इसे भव्य रूप प्रदान करेंगे. लाल और सफेद सैंड स्टोन से निर्मित इस द्वार के सबसे ऊपर चारों दिशाओं में मिश्रित धातु से शेर का प्रतीक चिह्न लगाया गया है.
सभ्यता द्वार पर यूनान के राजदूत और इंडिका पुस्तक के लेखक मेगास्थनीज के संदेश लिखे गए हैं. अपनी पुस्तक में मेगास्थनीज ने पाटलिपुत्र का बहुत ही सुंदर और विस्तृत वर्णन किया है. मेगास्थनीज ने लिखा है कि पाटलिपुत्र भारत का सबसे बड़ा नगर है. यह नगर गंगा और सोन के संगम पर बसा है. इसकी लंबाई साढ़े नौ मील और चौड़ाई पौने दो मील है. नगर के चारों ओर एक दीवार है जिनमें अनेक फाटक और दुर्ग बने हैं. नगर के अधिकतर मकान लकड़ी के बने हैं. इस तरह करीब 2500 वर्ष पूर्व के नगर की भव्यता का वर्णन इंडिका में किया गया है.
