इसी रंग के मकबरे को आकार देता भारत का पहला सफेद संगमरमर से बना मकबरा है, आगरा में यमुना नदी के किनारे, एतमादुद्दौला का मकबरा”। मध्य एशियाई शैली में बने इसके गुंबद आपको अपनी ओर खिचते हैं। एतमादुद्दौला का मकबरा मुगल बादशाह अकबर और शाहजहां की शैलियों के मध्य की एक कड़ी है। मकबरे के अंदर सोने और रत्नों की मदद से विशेष जड़ावट की गई है। इसमें संगमरमर की सुंदर जालियों से झांकना अपने में एक सुखद अनुभव से कम नहीं। इस मकबरे के अंदर में एतमादुद्दौला और उनकी बीबी (पत्नी) की कब्रें पीले रंग के कीमती पत्थरों से निर्मित है।
कौन थे एतमादुद्दौला-
इतिमद-उद-दौला या एतमादुद्दौला, नूरजहां के पिता मिर्जा गियास बेग को कहा गया है। ये मुगल बादशाह जहांगीर के दरबार में मंत्री थे। इन्हीं की याद में बना है यह मकबरा। जिसे इनकी बेटी यानी कि नूरजहां ने बनवाया था। मुगल काल के अन्य मकबरों की तुलना में अपेक्षाकृत काफी छोटा होने के कारण इसे श्रृंगारदान भी कहा जाता है। इसे 1626-1628 ई में बनाया गया था। बेबी ताज के नाम से मशहूर इस मकबरे में पहली बार पित्रदुरा तकनीक का प्रयोग किया गया था। भारत के पहले सफेद संगमरमर के इस मकबरे की नक्काशी और शैली को ताजमहल बनाते वक्त भी इस्तेमाल किया गया था। कुछ लोगों का तो मानना है कि यहां के जाली की नक्काशी तो ताजमहल से भी ज्यादा सुंदर है।
क्या है पित्रदुरा तकनीक-
पित्रदुरा, पीटा ड्यूरे या पर्चिनकारी, दक्षिण एशिया की एक ऐतिहासिक शिल्पकला है। इसमें सुंदर और कीमती पत्थरों को काट कर किसी स्थान विशेष या चित्र विशेष, जो कि दीवारों पर उकेरे जाते हैं, में भरी जाती है। यह एक सजावट की कला है। पित्रादुरा की यह खास शिल्पकारी जहांगीर के समय में भारत आई थी। इस शिल्पकला को भारत में सबसे पहले नूरजहां के पिता मिर्जा गुलाम बेग के मकबरे यानी कि एतमादुद्दौला मकबरे में इस्तेमाल किया गया है। समय के साथ पित्रदुरा तकनीक भारत में मुगल शिल्प के एक बेजोड़ नमूने के रूप में पहचानी जाने लगी। ताजमहल से लेकर मुगल के लगभग हर एक स्थापत्य में इसने खूबसूरती बिखेरी है। मुगल बादशाह शाहजहां के समय में इसका व्यापक प्रयोग हुआ था।
