लेकिन जब बात आती है घर की तो हर एक इन्सान एक ही बात बोलता है. क्या घर वास्तु के हिसाब से बनवाया है? कहते हैं जिस घर में वास्तु का दोष हो वहां सुख और समृद्धि कभी नहीं टिकती. वो घर हमेशा दुःख, दरिद्रता, और क्लेश से भरा होता है. आखिर ऐसा क्यों कहते हैं ? आखिर क्या है ये वास्तु शास्त्र?
वास्तु शास्त्र एक वैज्ञानिक पढ़ाई है, जिसमें दिशा के बारे में बताया जाता है, साथ ही साथ ये विज्ञान और कला दोनों है. वास्तु शास्त्र को स्थापत्य वेद भी कहा जाता है. वास्तु को वेद का एक अभिन्न अंग माना जाता है. वेद के हिसाब से वास्तु सिर्फ इन्सान के रहने की जगह को खुशहाल, सुन्दर और समृद्ध ही नहीं बनता है बल्कि लम्बे समय तक आरामदेह और आनंदमय भी बनाता है. ये सब तब होता है जब पंच तत्व अपनी जगह संतुलित होते है. अग्नि, जल, वायु, धरती, और आकाश ये तत्व जहाँ भी होते हैं वहां सब कुछ अच्छा होता है. सिर्फ ये पांच तत्व वास्तु में नहीं आते हैं बल्कि घर का सामान, फर्नीचर और घर की सजावट भी वास्तु में आते हैं. अगर सामान वास्तु के हिसाब से हो तो उसे मंगल माना जाता है.
भारत वेदों और पुराणों का देश है. ग्रन्थ ऐसे जिसकी पूरी दुनिया में चर्चे होते हैं. वास्तु आज से नहीं बल्कि देवताओं के समय से चला आ रहा है. देवताओं के शिल्पकार विश्वकर्मा हैं जिनके बारे में कहा जाता है कि उन्होंने रातों रात भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण के लिए द्वारिका नगरी बसा दी थी. दानवों के लिए शिल्पकार मय दानव को कहा जाता है.
कहते हैं राजा भोज ने वास्तु के हिसाब से अपने सारे काम किए इसलिए वो सबसे अमीर और खुशहाल राजा थे. राजा भोज ने वास्तु पर एक ग्रन्थ भी लिखी थी. उस ग्रन्थ का नाम है समराङ्गरा सूत्रधार. तो जब इतने पुराने काल से वास्तु चला आ रहा तो भारत के लोग उसे कैसे नहीं मानेंगे. हमारी संस्कृति हमे हमारी पंरम्परा को आगे बढ़ाना सिखाती है और भारत उसी परंपरा को आगे बाढा रहा.
बहुत सारे लोग कहते हैं ये सब फालतू की बातें है. ये व्रत, पूजा-पाठ, हवन, वास्तु सब अन्धविश्वास है. लेकिन अगर हम बात करें विज्ञान की तो विज्ञान ने इसके सबूत दिए हैं और माना भी है. हमारे पूर्वज ने जो भी नियम बनाये हैं वो विज्ञान को ध्यान में रखकर बनाये हैं जो हमारे शरीर के लिए उत्तम हैं. बड़े बुजुर्ग कहते हैं कि कभी भी सिर उत्तर और पैर दक्षिण की तरफ करके नहीं सोना चाहिए क्योंकि दक्षिण यम की दिशा है. ये बात वास्तु शास्त्र में भी लिखी हुई है. कई लोग इसको अन्धविश्वास मानते हैं लेकिन विज्ञान ने इस बात को माना है. विज्ञान कहता है की अगर आप उत्तर की तरफ़ सिर और दक्षिण की तरफ पैर करके सोते हैं तो आप जब सोकर उठते हैं तो कमजोर, थका हुआ और नींद पूरी नहीं हुई ऐसा महसूस करते हैं. ऐसा इसलिए होता है क्योंकि चुम्बकीय क्षेत्र या मैग्नेटिक फ़ील्ड उत्तर से दक्षिण की तरफ बहती है. अगर आप अपना सिर उत्तर की तरफ करके सोएंगे तो चुम्बकीय धारा यानि मैग्नेटिक करंट ठीक आपके शरीर से होकर जाएगा जो आपके शरीर को कमजोर बनता है.
वास्तु के हिसाब से रसोई घर अग्निकोण यानि दक्षिण-पूर्व, मंदिर की जगह ईशानकोण में है यानि उत्तर-पूर्व तो घर के सबसे बड़े के सोने की दिशा दक्षिणी-पश्चिम कोने यानि नैॠतकोण में होना चाहिए, सीढियाँ हमेशा घड़ी अनुसार होनी चाहिए. इसी तरह नल,शौचालय, आँगन, स्टडी रूम या किराए के घर के बारे में भी वास्तु में बताया गया है. विज्ञान और कला का समूह आपको हमेशा खुशहाल, समृद्ध और स्वास्थ रखेगा ऐसा हर भारतीय का मानना है. अब वास्तु को मानो या न मानो लेकिन विज्ञान और कला को मिलाकर ये बनेगा वास्तु शास्त्र ही.
