हिंदू कैलेंडर के अधिकमास के पीछे का क्या है वैज्ञानिक कारण, तीन सालों के बाद ही क्यूं आता है?
Adhik mas: अंग्रेजी कैलेंडर में जैसे हर चार साल पर लीप ईयर आता है। वैसे ही, हिंदू कैलेंडर में प्रत्येक तीन साल में एक बार एक अतिरिक्त महीना आता है, जिसे शास्त्रों में अधिमास, अधिकमास, मल मास या पुरूषोत्तम मास कहा जाता है। यह माह हिंदू माह में विशेष महत्व रखता है। शास्त्रों में इस महीने में विशेष पूजा-अर्चना, भक्ति भाव, उपवास और जप-तप के बारे में बताया गया है।
कहा जाता है कि अधिमास में पूजा-पाठ का फल अन्य माह से 10 गुणा ज्यादा मिलता है। जिस कारण श्रद्धालु इस महीने में अपने इहलोक और परलोक के लिए विशेष पूजा करता है। लेकिन सोचने वाली बात यह है कि अगर यह माह इतना प्रभावशाली और पवित्र है, तो यह हर तीन सालों में ही क्यूं आता है? आखिर किस कारण अधिकमास को इतना पवित्र माना जाता है? आइए इन्हीं सब उत्तरों को गहराइयों से जानते हैं-
अधिमास का तीन सालों से क्या है संबंध
वशिष्ठ सिद्धांत के अनुसार हिंदू कैलेंडर सूर्य और चंद्र मास की गणना पर आधारित है। भारतीय ज्योतिष गणना के अनुसर प्रत्येक सूर्य वर्ष 365 दिन और तकरीबन 6 घंटे का होता है, वहीं चंद्र वर्ष 354 दिनों का। दोनों के बीच का अंतर लगभग 11 दिनों का होता है, जो कि लगभग 1 माह के बराबर बैठता है। अधिमास चंद्र वर्ष का ही एक अतिरिक्त हिस्सा है, जो हर 32 मास, 16 दिन और 8 घटी के अंतर से आता है। इसी अंतर को पाटने के लिए प्रत्येक तीन साल में एक अतिरिक्त चंद्र मास आता है, जिसे ही अधिमास की संज्ञा दी जाती है।
अधिमास को मल मास या पुरूषोत्तम मास क्यूं कहते हैं?
हिंदू धर्म में अधिमास के समय सभी पवित्र कार्यों को वर्जित बताया गया है। मान्यता यह भी है कि इस माह में विशिष्ट व्यक्तिगत संस्कार यथा नामकरण, योज्ञोपवीत, विवाह आदि शुभ कार्य नहीं करना चाहिए। जिस कारण इसे मल मास की संज्ञा भी दी जाती है।
चूंकि अधिमा के अधिपति स्वयं भगवान विष्णु को माना गया है। इसलिए इसे पुरूषोत्तम मास भी कहा जाता है। हालांकि इस विषय में एक रोचक कहानी भी है। शास्त्रों में बताया गया है कि भारतीय मनीषियों ने प्रत्येक चंद्र मास के लिए एक अधिपति देवता का निर्धारण किया है। अधिमास सूर्य और चंद्र मास के बीच का संतुलन है। कहा जाता है कि जब इस अतिरिक्त मास का अधिपति बनने के लिए कोई भी देवता तैयार नहीं हुए तो भगवान विष्णु ने इसका भार अपने ऊपर ले लिया। जिसके बाद यह पुरूषोत्तम मास भी बन गया।
अधिमास के पीछे का पौराणिक महत्व
अधिमास को लेकर पुराणों में एक कथा कही गई है। बताया जाता है कि दैत्यराज हिरण्यकश्यप ने अपनी तपस्या से ब्रह्मा जी प्रसन्न कर लिया और फिर वरदान में अमरता मांग ली। चूंकि अमरता देना संभव नहीं था, इसलिए ब्रह्मा जी ने दूसरा कोई वर मांगने को कहा। जिसके बाद हिरण्यकश्यप ने उनसे वर मांगा कि उसे न तो कोई नर-नारी, पशु-देवता और न ही कोई सुर-असुर मार पाए। वह ना तो दिन में मरे ना रात में, ना अस्त्र से ना शस्त्र से, ना घर में ना ही घर के बाहर। इस वरदान के बाद हिरणयकश्यप का मरना लगभग असंभव था। जिसके बाद उसके आतंक को खत्म करने और उसे मारने स्वयं नारायण ने अपने नाखूनों से शाम के समय अपने गोद में लिटाकर अधिमास में मृत्यु के द्वार भेजा था।
