Banyan tree story: हिंदू धर्म में बरगद के पेड़ की पूजा-अर्चना करने की परंपरा सदियों से चली आ रही है। आज के आधुनिक समय में हम पुरानी परंपराओं को बेकार मानने लगे हैं। इसे दकियानूसी कह कर दरकिनार करने की एक चलन सी चल गई है। लेकिन, क्या वास्तव में ऐसा है ? शायद नहीं। यह हमारी कमजोरी है कि हम आज के आधुनिक समय में अपनी परंपराओं के पीछे के वैज्ञानिक तर्क से दूर होते जा रहे हैं और खुद को इससे दूर करते जा रहे हैं।
हिंदू परंपराओं में जीव और जगत पूजा को बहुत ज्यादा महत्व दिया गया है। इसमें हम हर उस चीज को पूजते आए हैं जो कि लौकिक अथवा अलौकिक जगत में मनुष्य मात्र के लिए उपयोगी रहा है। इसी क्रम में है बरगद की पूजा। ऐसे तो आज की पीढ़ी को लगेगा कि बरगद मात्र एक वृक्ष ही तो है हम इसकी पूजा क्यूं करें। लेकिन शायद आपको नहीं पता कि यह पेड़ जितना धार्मिक महत्व रखता है, इसका उतना ही वैज्ञानिक महत्व भी है।
बरगद को शास्त्रों में वटवृक्ष कहा जाता है। कहते हैं यह वृक्ष त्रिमूर्ति का प्रतीक है। इसकी छाल में विष्णु, जड़ में ब्रह्मा और शाखाओं में शिव का वास माना जाता है। जिस प्रकार पीपल के पेड़ को विष्णु का प्रतीक माना जाता है, उसी प्रकार बरगद को शिव का प्रतीक माना जाता है। यह स्वयं में प्रकृति के सृजन का प्रतीक है, इसलिए संतान पाने के इच्छित लोग इसकी विशेष तौर पर पूजा करते हैं। बरगद बहुत लंबे समय तक जीवित रहता है, जिस कारण इसे शास्त्रों में “अक्षयवट” भी कहते हैं। बरगद के पेड़ के कुछ वैज्ञानिक और धार्मिक महत्व को जानते हैं।
वटवृक्ष में है ऑक्सीजन का खजाना
यह वैज्ञानिक तौर पर भी सिद्ध हो चुका है कि बरगद के पेडों से भरपूर मात्रा में ऑक्सीजन मिलती है। भारतीय संस्कृति में जीतने भी पेड़-पौधों के पूजन के बारे में बताया गया है, चाहे वह बांस हो नीम हो, तुलसी हो, पीपल हो या बरगद, सभी में ऑक्सीजन का खजाना है। वैज्ञानिक शोधों में बात सामने आई है कि ये पेड़ पूरे दिन यानी कि 24 घंटों में से लगभग 20 घंटे से ज्यादा समय तक ऑक्सीजन का निर्माण करते हैं।
अक्षयवट है औषधीय गुणों से भरपूर
बरगद को धर्म में इतनी महत्ता यूं ही नहीं मिल गई है। इसमें कई प्रकार के औषधीय गुण भी मौजूद हैं। जानकार बताते हैं कि बरगद के पेड़ के पत्तों से निकलने वाले दूध के कई इस्तेमाल हैं। इसे चोट, मोच और सूजन में दिन में दो से तीन बार लगाकर मालिश करने से आराम मिलता है। आयुर्वेदिक पुस्तकों में बताया गया है कि यदि कोई घाव या खुली चोट है तो बरगद से प्राप्त दूध में हल्दी मिलाकर चोट वाली जगह पर बांधने से घाव जल्दी भर जाता है।
