बता दें कि 22 जनवरी को रक्षा मंत्री ने घोषणा की कि 17 राज्य और केंद्र शासित प्रदेश, जैसे कि पश्चिम बंगाल, असम, अरुणाचल प्रदेश, त्रिपुरा और जम्मू और कश्मीर, गणतंत्र दिवस परेड के लिए कर्तव्य पथ पर अपनी झाँकी प्रदर्शित करेंगे। हर साल, सितंबर के आसपास, रक्षा मंत्रालय, जो गणतंत्र दिवस परेड और समारोहों के लिए जिम्मेदार होता है, सभी राज्यों, केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों, केंद्र सरकार के विभागों और कुछ संवैधानिक अधिकारियों को भेजने के लिए कहकर झांकी तय करने की प्रक्रिया शुरू करता है। उसके बाद ही झांकियों को अंतिम रूप दिया जाता है।
