आज के प्रेम विवाह का ही पौराणिक रूप है गंधर्व विवाह
भारतीय संस्कृति में विवाह को गृहस्थ का एक अहम आधार माना जाता रहा है। विवाह में दो पक्ष अर्थात वर पक्ष और वधु पक्ष और उनके सगे संबंधियों का मेल बहुत जरूरी हिस्सा है। ऐसी मान्यता रही है कि विवाह सिर्फ दो तन का आपसी मेल नही है। बल्कि दो आत्माएं सात जन्मों के बंधन में बंधती है।
क्या आपको मालूम है कि हिन्दू रीति रिवाज में विवाह की विशद व्याख्या है। और मनुस्मृति की माने तो विवाह के कुल 8 प्रकार बताये गये है। इनमें ब्रह्म विवाह,देव विवाह ,आर्ष विवाह, प्राजापात्य विवाह, असुर विवाह, गंधर्व विवाह, राक्षस विवाह और पैशाच विवाह आते हैं। शास्त्र की मानें तो ब्रह्म,देव,आर्ष और प्राजापात्य उच्च श्रेणियों के अन्दर आता है । तो वहीं असुर गंधर्व राक्षस और पैशाच विवाह निम्न श्रेणी में आते हैं।
ऊपर के चारों विवाह श्रेणियों में समाजिक सहमति को बहुत ज्यादा प्रश्रय दिया गया है। लेकिन क्या आपको मालूम है कि नीचो की चारों श्रेणियों के विवाह जैसे असुर गंधर्व राक्षस और पैशाच को इसलिए भी अधम श्रेणियां में रखा गया है। क्योंकि इनमें सामाजिक मान्याता ना के बराबर होती है। समय के साथ साथ भले ही समाज इन रिश्तों को स्वीकार कर ले। लेकिन विवाह के पूर्व परिवार और समाज की सहमति की नगण्य स्थिति इसे अधम का दर्जा ही देती है।
इन नीचे के चारों श्रेणियों में गंधर्व विवाह के बारे में आपने कभी ना कभी तो सुना ही होगा। इस विवाह को आज कल के प्रेम विवाह से जोड़ कर देखा जाता है। माना जाता है कि आज का प्रेम विवाह कोई नई बात नहीं बल्कि इसकी व्याख्या पुरानी व्यवस्थाओं में भी गंधर्व विवाह के रूप में देखा जाता रहा है।
आखिर ये प्रेम विवाह और पुराने गंधर्व विवाह में क्या समानता है?
हिन्दु धर्म के मनुस्मृति में जिन 8 विवाहों का जिक्र है। उसमें से एक है गंधर्व विवाह। गंधर्व विवाह में वर पक्ष और वधु पक्ष की सहमति अनिवार्य है। लेकिन इनमें समाज अथवा परिवार की सहमति की पूर्व स्थिति की अनिवार्यता नहीं है। इसका मतलब की लड़का लड़की राजी पर मां बाप, परिवार और समाज तैयार ना भी हों तो भी चलेगा। स्थिति प्रेम विवाह जैसी ही है। इसमें कुल,समाज,गोत्र की अनिवार्यता नहीं रह जाती । लेकिन इस विवाह में एक बात जरूरी है । और वह है दोनों की सहमति वो भी पूर्ण रूप से । लगभग प्रेम विवाह जैसी स्थिति है।
गंधर्व विवाह में भी कुछ कर्म कांड हैं जरूरी-
गंधर्व विवाह में भी अग्नि की प्रधानता को रखा गया है। चाहे इसविवाह पद्धति में परिवार, समाज भले ही राजी ना हो। लेकिन इसमें लड़के और लड़की दोनों की सहमति के बाद अग्नि के तीन फेरे लेने होते हैं। गंधर्व विवाह में इस बात पर जोर नही दिया गया है कि अग्नि कहां से लाई गयी है या इसे किसने प्रज्जवलित किया है। इसमें अग्नि की व्यवस्था किसी भी श्रोत्रिय के द्वारा की जा सकती है।
गंधर्व विवाह में सहमति की अनिवार्यता है-
गंधर्व विवाह में दोनों पक्ष अर्थात वर तथा वधु पक्ष की सहमति विशेष रूप से दर्शायी गयी है। अगर वर पक्ष सहमत हो और वधु पक्ष भी सहमत हो लेकिन वधु पक्ष की सहमति, डरा कर, झूठ बोलकर,जबरदस्ती किसी भी अन्य अनैतिक प्रकार से ली गयी हो तो यह विवाह राक्षस विवाह माना जाता था। सोई हुई कन्या के साथ बलात संबंध और फिर विवाह को पिचास विवाह की श्रेणी में रखा जाता था। अगर कन्या पक्ष की सहमति उसके माता पिता को धन का लोभ देकर ली जाती थी तो इसे आसुरी विवाह माना जाता था।
