राजस्थान में मौजूद अजमेर शरीफ दरगाह की मान्यता दुनिया भर में है. यहां उर्स पर्व सबसे मुख्य होता है. इस दौरान यहां मेला लगता है और बहुत सारे कार्यक्रम होते हैं. उर्स इस्लामिक कैलेंडर के हिसाब से रजब माह की पहली से छठवीं तारीख तक मनाया जाता है. बताया जाता है कि मोहम्मद बिन तुगलक हजरत ख्वाजा मुईनुद्दीन चिश्ती अजमेरी की दरगाह में आने वाला पहला व्यक्ति था, जिसने 1332 में यहां की यात्रा की थी. अजमेर शरीफ दरगाह का निर्माण मुगल शासक हुमांयू ने करवाया था और उनके बाद के शासकों अकबर और शाहजहां ने दरगाह कॉम्प्लेक्स में कई मस्जिदों का निर्माण करवाया. यहां की शाह जहानी मस्जिद मुगल वास्तुकला का एक अद्भुत नमूना है, जहां अल्लाह के 99 पवित्र नामों के 33 खूबसूरत छंद लिखे गए हैं.
दरगाह के अंदर दो बड़े-बड़े कढाहे हैं, जिनमें निआज (चावल, केसर, बादाम, घी, चीनी, मेवे को मिलाकर बनाया गया खाद्य पदार्थ) पकाया जाता है. यह खाना रात में बनाया जाता है और सुबह प्रसाद के रूप में जनता में वितरित किया जाता है. यह छोटे कढाहे में 12.7 किलो और बड़े वाले में 31.8 किलो चावल बनाया जाता है. कढाहे का घेराव 10 फीट का है. यह बड़ा वाला कढाहा बादशाह अकबर द्वारा दरगाह में भेंट किया गया, जबकि इससे छोटा वाला बादशाह जहांगीर द्वारा चढ़ाया गया.
दरगाह के बीचों बीच स्थित है सूफी संत चिश्ती की संगमरमर से बनी कब्र. चिश्ती की दरगाह पर फूल, चादर और मिठाईयां चढ़ाई जाती हैं. अगर आप दरगाह पर जाएं और आपके पास समय हो, तो यहां होने वाली कव्वाली को सुनना न भूलें. आमतौर पर यह गुरुवार और शुक्रवार की शाम को होती है. सर्दियों के मौसम में दरगाह सुबह 5 बजे से लेकर रात 9 बजे तक और गर्मियों के मौसम में सुबह 4 बजे से लेकर रात 10 बजे तक खुला रहता है. महिलाओं के लिए सिर पर दुपट्टा बांधकर रखना और पुरुषों के लिए सिर पर टोपी पहनकर दरगाह के अंदर जाना बेहद जरूरी है. दरगाह के अंदर किसी तरह का बैग या सामान ले जाना मना है. आप सिर्फ मोबाइल फोन अपने साथ ले जा सकते हैं. दरगाह के अंदर कैमरा ले जाना भी मना है.
