बसंत पंचमी पर क्यों करते हैं सरस्वती की पूजा ? – रक्षा पंड्या
ॐ नमस्ते शारदे देवी, सरस्वती मतिप्रदे
वसत्वम् मम जिव्हाग्रे, सर्वविद्याप्रदोभवः।
अर्थात – ‘हे देवी शारदा! आपको मेरा प्रणाम।
हे विद्या दायिनी देवी सरस्वती! आप मेरी जिव्हा के अग्र भाग में निवास कीजिए तथा मुझे समस्त विद्याओं का ज्ञान दीजिए।’
बसंत पंचमी के दिन देवी सरस्वती की पूजा, अर्चना एवं आराधना की जाती है। सृष्टि निर्माण में शामिल, प्रकृति के मूल पाँच रूपों में से एक सरस्वती ही तो है, जो वाणी, बुद्धि, विद्या और ज्ञान की देवी है।
ऋग्वेद में देवी सरस्वती का विस्तृत वर्णन पढ़ने में आता है। उसमें कहा गया है कि –
‘प्राणो देवी सरस्वती वाजेभिर्वजिनी वती धीनामणित्रयीवतु।’
अर्थात – ‘सरस्वती रूप में यह देवी हमारी बुद्धि, प्रज्ञा, तथा मनोवृत्ति की संरक्षक है। हममें यदि आचार-विचार और समझ है तो इसका आधार भी सरस्वती ही है।’
मनुष्य व जगत के प्रत्येक प्राणी की बुद्धि, विद्या और वाणी में माँ सरस्वती स्वयं विराजमान हैं। उनके आशीर्वाद से ही व्यक्ति अपने भाव और विचारों को अभिव्यक्त कर पाता है। माँ सरस्वती को वाग्वादिनी, गायत्री, शारदा, कमला, हंसवाहिनी आदि कई नामों से भी जाना जाता है।
एक पौराणिक कथानुसार, ब्रह्माजी ने भगवान विष्णु की आज्ञा से सृष्टि का सृजन किया। लेकिन सृष्टि के इस सृजन से ब्रह्मा जी खुश नहीं थे, उन्हें अपने इस कार्य में कहीं न कहीं कुछ कमी लग रही थी। इसलिए वे धरती का भ्रमण करने निकले, इस भ्रमण के दौरान ब्रह्मा जी को धरती काफी वीरान, सुनसान व नीरस दिखी। तब उन्होंने अपने कमंडल में से अभिमंत्रित जल लेकर पृथ्वी पर छिड़का, इन जलकणों के पृथ्वी पर गिरते ही एक शक्ति उत्पन्न हुई – जिसके एक हाथ में वीणा, दूसरे में पुस्तक, तीसरे में माला, व चौथा हाथ वरद मुद्रा में था। जैसे ही इस देवी ने वीणा की मधुर तान छेड़ी सृष्टि की प्रत्येक वस्तु को आवाज मिल गई, पूरी सृष्टि आह्लादित हो उठी और सर्वत्र उमंग छा गया। इसलिए इस देवी को सरस्वती नाम दिया गया। चूंकि इस दिन माघ मास की शुक्ल पक्ष की पंचमी थी। इसलिए बसंत पंचमी के पर्व को विद्या एवं बुद्धि की देवी माँ सरस्वती का प्रागट्योत्सव भी माना जाता है, तथा इसी दिन माँ शारदा की पूजा भी की जाती है।
जैसा कि सर्वविदित है, ‘सभी देव व ईश्वरों में जो स्थान भगवान श्रीकृष्ण का है, वही स्थान ऋतुओं में बसन्त का है।’ इसलिए ही तो गीता के 10वें अध्याय में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं – ‘ऋतुनाम् कुसुमाकर’ यानी ‘ऋतुओं में मैं बसंत हूँ।’
एक पौराणिक कथा में यह दर्शाया गया है कि, जब सरस्वती ने भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के दर्शन किए, तब उनके मनमोहक रूप पर वह मोहित हो गई तथा उन्हें अपने पति रूप में प्राप्त करने की कामना करने लगी। जब भगवान श्रीकृष्ण को इस बारे में पता चला तो उन्होंने सरस्वती से कहा – ‘हे देवी! मैं तो केवल राधा को ही समर्पित हूँ, इसलिए ये तो संभव नहीं है।’ परंतु, मैं आपको यह वरदान देता हूँ कि, ‘जिस भी व्यक्ति के मन में हरेक विधा को सीखने की इच्छा होगी, वह माघ शुक्ल की पंचमी के दिन तुम्हारी पूजा करेगा। और बसंत पंचमी के इस पावन दिन जो भी तुम्हारी सच्चे मन से आराधना करेगा, वह मेधावी बनेगा।’ यह वरदान देने के बाद भगवान श्रीकृष्ण ने स्वयं देवी सरस्वती की पूजा की थी। इसलिए ही तो माँ सरस्वती की स्तुति में कहा गया है –
‘या ब्रह्माच्युतशंकर प्रभृतिभिदेवैसदावंदिता,
सामां पातु सरस्वती भगवती निःशेष जाड्या पहा’
अर्थात – ‘जिसका वंदन ब्रह्मा, विष्णु और महेश जैसे देव करते हैं, ऐसी भगवती सरस्वती! हमारे अज्ञान का विनाश कर हमें सद्बुद्धि प्रदान करो, सुरक्षा करो हमारी।’
माँ सरस्वती की जन्मतिथि यानी कि ‘बसन्त पंचमी’, कालचक्र और ज्योतिष का भी उल्लंघन करने वाली एक अलौकिक तिथि है। अतः हम कह सकते हैं कि ‘बसंत, जीवन के नवपल्लव का मधुर महोत्सव है और बसंत पंचमी, उसके आगमन का संदेश देता महापर्व।’
