फणीश्वर नाथ ‘ रेणु ‘ : मानवीय संवेदनाओं को उकेरता एक साहित्यकार
मानवीय दृष्टि से संपन्न एक कथाकार ने बिहार के एक छोटे से भूखंड की हथेली पर किसानों की नियति को अपने कहानियों के माध्यम से उजागर करने का काम किया. कहा जाता है कि आंचलिक भाषा को हिंदी साहित्य में एक अलग स्थान दिलाने का काम सबसे पहले फणीश्वर नाथ ‘ रेणु ‘ ने किया था. ऐसे बहुत कम लेखक होते हैं जो अपने जीते जी ही किंवदंतियों का हिस्सा हो जाते हैं. जो अपने समय के रचनाकारों के लिए प्रेरणा और जलन दोनों का कारण एक साथ ही बनते हैं. रेणु ऐसे ही थे.
रेणु का साहित्य आज़ादी के बाद दम तोड़ती मध्यवर्गीय जीवन का साहित्य है. रेणु की कहानियां एक तरह से अनेक समस्याओं से जूझती उस जिंदगियों का साहित्य है जिसके लिए हर एक पल समस्याओं से घिरा है. रेणु का एकाएक उभरना मठों में बैठे लेखकों के लिए परेशान करनेवाला था. उन्हें प्रसिद्धि जितनी जल्दी मिली, इल्जाम भी उतनी आसानी से हवा में गूंजने लगे. रेणु का समय प्रेमचंद के ठीक बाद का था. तब तक एक तरह के आभिजात्यबोध का साहित्य पर कब्ज़ा हो चुका था. भाषा शब्दों और प्रयोगों के खेल में फंसने लगी थी और यह कोई अनहोनी भी न थी. स्वतंत्रता के बाद नया जीवन था, प्रगति के नए-नए सपने थे. ऐसे में सबसे आसान था लीक पर चलकर शहरी और मध्यमवर्गीय जीवन की कहानियां लिखते जाना. पर रेणु ने ऐसा नहीं किया.
फणीश्वर नाथ ‘ रेणु ‘ का जन्म 4 मार्च 1921 को बिहार के अररिया जिले में फॉरबिसगंज के पास औराही हिंगना गाँव में हुआ था. उस समय यह पूर्णिया जिले में था. ये बिहार का एक जिला है. इनके द्वारा ही हिंदी साहित्य में आंचलिक कथा की नींव रखी गई. रेणु ने 1936 के आसपास से कहानी लेखन की शुरुआत की थी। उस समय कुछ कहानियाँ प्रकाशित भी हुई थीं, किंतु वे किशोर रेणु की अपरिपक्व कहानियाँ थी। 1942 के आंदोलन में गिरफ़्तार होने के बाद जब वे 1944 में जेल से मुक्त हुए, तब घर लौटने पर उन्होंने ‘बटबाबा’ नामक पहली परिपक्व कहानी लिखी। ‘बटबाबा’ ‘साप्ताहिक विश्वमित्र’ के 27 अगस्त 1944 के अंक में प्रकाशित हुई।
इनके कहानी के दृश्य किसी फिल्म की तरह आपके आगे चलते है. चरित्र की कोई रेखा मानो खुलती जाती कोई नयना जोगिन हो जाती. इस्स कहता हिरामन और अपनी नाच से बिजली गिराती हीराबाई ये सारे दृश्य आपके आँखों के सामने चलते जाते हैं. रेणु मानवीय दृष्टि से संपन्न कथाकार थे.
अपने बारे में जब कभी उन्होंने लिखना चाहा, उनकी कलम मानो रुक सी जाती थी, शायद इसीलिए उन्होंने आपने सारे कहानियों में खुद को पूरी तरह उड़ेल दिया. इनकी भाषा में अपनापन मानो शब्दों में झांक रहा है. सूरज पश्चिम में झुक गया, बालूचर पर लाली उतर गई, परमआन की धारा पर डूबता सूरज दिखाई दिया जैसे पंक्तिओं में गाँव समाया हुआ है. उनकी कहानी ‘मारे गए गुलफ़ाम’ पर आधारित फ़िल्म ‘तीसरी क़सम’ ने भी उन्हें काफ़ी प्रसिद्धि दिलवाई. इस फ़िल्म में राजकपूर और वहीदा रहमान ने मुख्य भूमिका में अभिनय किया था. ‘तीसरी क़सम’ को बासु भट्टाचार्य ने निर्देशित किया था और इसके निर्माता सुप्रसिद्ध गीतकार शैलेन्द्र थे. कथा-साहित्य के अलावा उन्होंने संस्मरण, रेखाचित्र और रिपोर्ताज आदि विधाओं में भी लिखा. उनके कुछ संस्मरण भी काफ़ी मशहूर हुए. ‘ऋणजल धनजल’, ‘वन-तुलसी की गंध’, ‘श्रुत अश्रुत पूर्व’, ‘समय की शिला पर’, ‘आत्म परिचय’ उनके संस्मरण हैं.
रेणु को सबसे ज्यदा प्रसिद्धी हिंदी में अपने उपन्यास मैला आँचल से मिली. इसके लिए उन्हें पदमश्री से सम्मानित किया गया. 11 अप्रैल 1977 में ये पंचतत्व में विलीन हो गये. आज रेणु के नहीं होने के चार दशक के बाद भी जब हम उनकी रचनाओ को पढ़ते हैं, तो उनकी कमी खलती है, क्योंकि आज गांवों के बारे में लिखने वालो की संख्या कम होती जा रही है.
व्यक्ति सम्पूर्ण कहाँ होता है, केवल कम या ज्यादा सम्पूर्ण होता है, रेणु इतने ही सम्पूर्ण थे. वो जिस तरह सोचते थे, वही बोलते थे और वही लिखते भी थे. उनके कहानियों यातनाएं कितनी परतें फाड़कर मुस्कुराहटों में बिखर जाती ये कहना बहुत मुश्किल है जब तक आप रेणु को आत्मसात नहीं कर लेते.
