लखनवी चिकनकारी की एक झलक..
Lacknow Chickankari: लखनऊ का नाम जहन में आए और आप नवाब, शाही महल, कोठियां, झरोखे, दस्तकारी और लखनवी तहजीब को याद ना करें भला ऐसा कभी हुआ है। अदब और इल्म के इस शहर में एक मशहूर कहावत है कि लखनऊ में चिकन खाया भी जाता है और पहना भी। ओ हो आप शाकाहारी तो नहीं। खैर कोई नहीं, हम इसे आपके सामने परोसने नहीं जा रहे। बल्कि लखनवी कला की इस मशहूर चिकनकारी, जो कि यहाँ के इसी तहजीब और विरासत का एक हिस्सा है, से रू-ब-रू करा रहे हैं।
वैसे तो चिकनकारी का किस्सा बहुत पुराना है। कहते हैं चिकनकारी अपने में एक अपभ्रंश शब्द है। चिकन लव्ज़ टर्किश शब्द चिख से लिया गया है, जिसका अर्थ है छोटे-छोटे छेद करना। क्या आप जानते हैं कि चिकनकारी में कई अलग-अलग प्रकार के काम आते हैं जैसे मुर्रे, जाली, बखिया, टेप्चा आदि। लखनऊ की इस चिकनकारी ने गुज़रे ज़माने के शाही परिवारों से लेकर आज के फैशनपरस्तों तक को अपनी अदभूत कला से विस्मित किया है। कला के इस रूप में कशीदाकारी की क़रीब 36 तकनीकों के इस्तेमाल ने इसे दुनियाभर में एक अलग मुकाम दिया है। इसकी शोहरत आज किसी देश के सीमा की मोहताज नहीं बल्कि इसके सफ़ेद धागे से महीन कपड़े, वो भी सफेद, पे की गई कारीगरी तो दिलों के दरवाजे खोल देती हैं। दुनिया में इसको शैडोवर्क के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। पारंपरिक तौर पर चिकनकारी, मलमल के सफ़ेद कपड़ों पर सफ़ेद धागों से की जाती है। लेकिन समय के पहियों पर घूमती ख्वाहिशों को जब पर लगने लगते हैं तो इसकी उड़ान को अपनी उड़ान में समा लेने के लिए इसे सफ़ेद के साथ साथ और भी रंगों का सहारा लेना होता है।
भारत में सदियों से चलता आ रहा चिकनकारी के इस काम के पीछे दो किस्से प्रचलित हैं। लेकिन दोनों ही किस्सें “नूरजहां” से जुड़े हुए हैं। कहते हैं चिकनकारी की इस अदाकारी को नूरजहां ईरान से सीख कार आई थी और भारत में उसने इसे प्रचलित किया। तो दूसरी तरफ एक किस्सा यह भी है कि नूरजहां की एक बांदी “बिस्मिल्लाह” जब दिल्ली से लखनऊ आई तो उसने नूरजहां के सामने अपनी इस कला का प्रदर्शन किया और नूरजहां को बेहद पसंद आया। तब से लेकर आज तक लखनऊ की यह कला लोगों के दिल पर राज करती है। किस्से कुछ भी हो लेकिन तय तो यही माना जाता है कि चिकनकारी की यह कला नूरजहां की देन है। कहते हैं चिकन वाकई में कोई शब्द नहीं बल्कि फारसी के शब्द चाकिन का अपभ्रंश है जिसका अर्थ होता है बेलबूटे उभारना।
कहते हैं चिकनकारी की प्रारंभिक उत्पत्ति ईरान से हुई है। माना जाता है कि ईरान में कढ़ाई की उत्पत्ति सासनी साम्राज्य के दौरान हुई थी। बगदाद के बीजान्टिन राजदूत ने 917 ईसवीं में ईरान के सोने की कढ़ाई का जिक्र किया है। कहते हैं जब 9वीं शताब्दी में अरबों ने ईरान पर जीत दर्ज की तो इसी दौरान ईरान में तिराज कढ़ाई की भी शुरूआत हुई।
खैस किस्से कहानियों से इतर लखनऊ की इस चिकनकारी को इतनी आसानी से कपड़ो पर नहीं उकेर लिया जाता है। बहुत सारी प्रक्रियाओं और मेहनत का रंग जब एक-एक करके मिलता है तब इनके रंग का प्रतिबिम्ब बनकर उभरता है यह कलाकारी। चिकनकारी के काम में जुड़े हुनरमंदों की माने तो इसे बनाने में सबसे पहले इसके कपड़ों को वह गोमती नदी में धुलते हैं और फिर सूरज की तेज धूप में 40 डिग्री के तापमान पर इन्हें सुखाया जाता है। फिर कटाई, सिलाई, और इसके बाद, सुई धागे की मदद से हाथ से कढ़ाई की जाती है। चिकनकारी में सुई धागे के अलावा जालियों का एक विस्तृत जटिल काम होता है। इसमें 40 प्रकार से ज्यादा टांके और जालियों को काम में लिया जाता है। चिकनकारी की उत्पादों को तैयार करने में रंगरेजों का कम योगदान नहीं है। कहते हैं हाथ से कारीगरी करने के कारण कपड़े काफी मैले हो जाते हैं तो इसकी कलाकारी को सहेज कर रंग चढ़ाने से लेकर इसे साफ करने तक में रंगरेज अपनी प्रतिभा का परिचय देते हुए इसे बाजारों के लायक बनाते हैं।
लखनऊ की चिकनकारी कढ़ाई और कशीदाकारी की एक विशेष शैली को आप पुराने लखनऊ में बहुत खूब तरीके से देख और आजमा सकते हैं। चिकनकारी के इस काम को वहां की कुल श्रम में महिलाओं की भूमिका 95 फीसदी के आसपास है। जिन्होंने अपने उम्दा कारीगरी की बदौलता लखनऊ के इस चिकनकारी को विश्व में एक ब्रांड बना दिया है। लखनऊ चिकनकारी की दीवानगी सिर्फ हमारे भारत में ही नहीं बल्कि विदेशों में भी बहुत ज्यादा है। विदेशों से घूमने आए सैलानी चाहे चिकन खाए बिना यहां से एक बार चला जाए लेकिन लखनऊ के चिकनकारी के पुराने बाजार से होकर तो जरूर गुजरने की चाहत रखता है।
