हर साल जून महीने की 21 तारीख को ‘अंतरराष्ट्रीय योग दिवस’ मनाया जाता है। सहक्रियता, दिल के लिए योग जैसी विभिन्न संकल्पनाओं के साथ पिछले कई सालों में योग दिवस बहुत ही कामयाबी से मनाया गया. इस साल के विश्व योग दिन की संकल्पना है, ‘मानवता के लिए योग’. मानवता यानी मनुष्य होने की अवस्था या भाव. इस योग दिवस की थीम ‘योगा फॉर ह्यूमैनिटी’ भी कोविड-19 के प्रभाव को देखते हुए चुनी गई है. क्योंकि कोरोना महामारी ने ना सिर्फ हमारे शारीरिक स्वास्थ्य को नुकसान पहुंचाया है, बल्कि चिंता, अवसाद जैसी मनोवैज्ञानिक और मानसिक समस्याएं भी दी हैं. जो कि इस समय मानवता के लिए सबसे बड़ी चुनौती है. वहीं, योग का मूल सार सिर्फ शरीर को स्वस्थ रखना या फिर दिमाग व शरीर के बीच संतुलन बनाना नहीं है, बल्कि दुनिया में मानवीय रिश्तों के बीच संतुलन बनाना भी है. इसलिए ही मानवता के लिए योग का सहारा अवश्य लिया जाना चाहिए.
आधुनिक जीवन पद्धति में योग सेहत और स्वास्थ्य से जुड़ गया है. योग की परिभाषा को शब्द जाल में नहीं समेटा जा सकता. योग आध्यात्मिक प्रक्रिया है. जिसके माध्यम से हम शरीर, मन और आत्मा को एक साथ केंद्रीय बिंदु में स्थिर कर सकते हैं. योग को सार्वभौंमिक बना कर जहां हम लोगों की तंदुरुस्ती सुधार सकते हैं वहीं कई बीमारियों से मुक्ति पा सकते हैं.
आपको बता दें कि अच्छी तरह से कार्य करने वाला दिल हमारे शरीर की रक्तवहन यंत्रणा से रक्त की अविरत आपूर्ति करता रहता है. इस प्रकार का अविरत रूप से रक्त पहुँचाना हमारे शरीर के टिश्यूज को (ऊतक) ऑक्सिजन और पोषक तत्त्व मिलने के लिए तथा कार्बनडाय ऑक्साईड और अन्य बेकार घटकों को निकालकर शरीरका नियमित कार्य चालू रखने के लिए जरुरी होता है. कलेस्ट्रॉल का इस्तेमाल यद्यपि विटामिन डी और कुछ हार्मोन्स के संयोग के लिए होता है, फिर भी रक्त धमनीयों के अन्दर वाले पृष्ठस्तर पर अतिरिक्त प्रमाण में जमा हुआ कलेस्ट्रॉल, दिल को होनेवाली रक्त की आपूर्ति को कम कर सकता है. यही घटक बाद में दिल की विभिन्न बीमारियों का भी कारण बन सकता है.
स्वास्थ्यपूर्ण जीवनशैली की यात्रा में योग एक महत्त्वपूर्ण मील का पत्थर है. अपना शरीर प्रमाणबद्ध रखने का तथा मन की शांति का यह एक प्राचीन, परंपरागत मार्ग है. पूरे विश्व के शहर संस्कृति का आज योग एक अभिन्न अंग बन चुका है. अभ्यास में ऐसा देखा गया है कि योग की वजह से किसी भी साईड इफेक्टस के सिवा कुदरती रूप से कलेस्ट्रॉल कम होने में मदद होती है तथा व्यायाम के एक परिणामकारक प्रकार के तौर पर हररोज योगासन किए जा सकते हैं. इसके अलावा, चयापचय विकृति (मेटॅबॉलिक सिंड्रोम) कम करने में योगासन से मदद मिलती है, जिससे दिल की बीमारी, स्ट्रोक और टाईप-2 मधुमेह का खतरा कम होता है.
यूं ही नहीं भारत के साथ-साथ दूसरे देशों में भी हमसे योग सीखकर योग पद्धति द्वारा अनेकों बीमारियों से स्वास्थ्य लाभ प्राप्त कर रहे हैं. जानलेवा बीमारियां योग से ठीक हो रही हैं. जिसके कारण योग की महिमा दिन प्रतिदिन बढ़ती जा रही है. प्राचीन काल से ही ऋषि-मुनि योग के सहारे चीरकाल तक स्वस्थ व हट्टे-कट्टे रहते थे.
