भगवान ने जब सृष्टि का निर्माण किया तो उसने अपनी सृष्टि को चलाने के लिए कुछ शाश्वत नियम कानून बनाए, कुछ व्यवस्थाएं दी ताकि सृष्टि का कार्य सुचारू रूप से चल सके। उसकी सृष्टि के अलावा भी ब्रह्मांड में अनेक सृष्टियां है जो बनती बिगड़ती रहती हैं, उनमें भी बदलाव होता रहता है। कहीं निर्माण हो रहा होता है , कुछ नष्ट हो रहा होता है। कुछ नया तभी आएगा जो पुराना अपना स्थान छोड़ेगा, नहीं तो अव्यवस्था हो जाएगी। प्रकृति में भी परिवर्तन हो रहा है। वहां भी यही व्यवस्था होती है।
सिकंदर ने जब बहुत सारे देश जीत लिए थे उसके मन में आया कि मैं इस साम्राज्य को अधिक समय तक भोगूं और उसके लिए वह अमर होना चाहता था। बहुत खोज करने के बाद उसे पता चला कि भारत के साधुओं के पास एक ऐसा फल होता है जिसे खाकर वह अमर हो सकता है। उसने चारों तरफ अपने सैनिक दौड़ा दिए कि कोई ऐसा साधु पकड़ कर लाओ जो उसे अमर फल दे सके। बहुत दौड़ भाग करने के बाद सैनिकों को एक साधु मिला जिसने कहा कि मैं तुम्हारे राजा को अमर फल दे सकता हूं। उन्होंने उसे सिकंदर के पास चलने को कहा था वह बोला हम तो साधु हैं कहीं जाते नहीं है आपके राजा को ही हमारे पास आना पड़ेगा। जब सिकंदर को इस बात का पता चला तो वह दौड़कर साधु के पास आया और बोला मुझे वह अमर फल दे दो मैं अमर होना चाहता हूं। साधु बोला अच्छा, अमर होना चाहते हो, सिकंदर ने कहा कि मैं अमर होकर अपने साम्राज्य को भोगना चाहता हूं ।मेरा साम्राज्य बहुत विशाल है मैंने उसको बहुत कोशिशें से जीता है। साधु ने कहा कि यहां से थोड़ी दूर जाओ वहां पर एक मैदान आएगा फिर एक पहाड़ी, उसे पार करके जाना तो वहां तुम्हें एक तालाब दिखेगा, उसका पानी पी लेना। सिकंदर बोला आपने तो फल कहा था, साधु ने कहा तुम्हें अमर होने से मतलब है चाहे फल हो या पानी क्या फर्क पड़ता है ।
सिकंदर ने घोड़ा दौड़ाया और वह मैदान और पहाड़ पार करके पहुंचा तो उसे वहां पर तालाब दिखाई दिया, उसे देखकर बहुत खुशी हुई, पर उसने देखा कि वहां पर एक भी पशु और पक्षी नहीं है। पर उसको अमर होना था और जैसे ही वह पानी पीने के लिए झुका तो उसे एक आवाज आई, रुको, यह पानी मत पियो। उसने इधर-उधर देखा तो उसे तालाब में दो आंखें चमकती दिखाई दी। वह एक मगरमच्छ था , सिकन्दर ने पूछा ,तुम कौन हो तो मगरमच्छ ने कहा कि मैंने भी इस तालाब का पानी पिया था और अब मैं अमर तो हो गया हूं ,पर मेरी हालत देखो मैं बूढ़ा और अशक्त हूं, ना जी सकता हूं, ना मर सकता हूं क्योंकि मैंने यह पानी पिया है, क्या तुम ऐसी जिंदगी चाहोगे ,सिकंदर ने कहा नहीं मैं तो स्वस्थ होकर जीना चाहता हूं तो मगर ने कहा कि फिर यहां का पानी मत पियो। सिकंदर वापस साधु के पास और बोला कि मुझे उसे मगरमच्छ जैसी जिंदगी नहीं चाहिए। मैं स्वस्थ होकर अमर होना चाहता हूं तब साधु बोला ठीक है, फिर उसने कहा कि जहां तक तुम गए थे उसके आगे जाना, तालाब से आगे दो पहाड़ियों पार करना उसके बाद तुम्हें एक बाग मिलेगा, उसके फल खा लेना ।सिकंदर बोला पहले ही बता देते इतनी दूर फिर जाना पड़ेगा, साधु बोला अमर होना है तो जाना ही पड़ेगा। सिकंदर घोड़ा दौड़ा कर उस बाग के पास पहुंचा पर जैसे ही उसने पेड़ पर लगे फल खाने के लिए हाथ बढ़ाया ही था कि उसे कहीं से बहुत सारे लोगों के लड़ने की आवाज आने लगी, उसने देखा सब लोग एक ही उम्र के लग रहे थे और आपस में लड़ रहे थे। बहुत ही स्वस्थ शरीर के थे और बहुत ही सुडौल और बलिष्ठ शरीर था उनका। सिकंदर ने पूछा आप कौन लोग हैं और क्यों लड़ रहे हो, उन्होंने कहा हम एक ही परिवार के लोग हैं कोई परदादा, दादा, पिता, पुत्र हमने इस बाग के फल खाएं है ।
अब हम अमर हो गए हैं, हमारा तन भी स्वस्थ है और हमारे पास कुछ करने को भी नहीं है क्योंकि हम मरेंगे नहीं, हम पूर्ण रूप से स्वस्थ भी हैं ,हम क्या करें लड़ेंगे ही, उन्होंने कहा तुम यह फल मत खाना। भगवान ने जो संसार बनाया बहुत ही सुंदर है। यहां बच्चा बड़ा होता है उसके पिता दादा उसे बहुत प्यार करते हैं, वह भी उनकी गोद में खेलता है बड़ा होता है और जब माता-पिता बूढ़े हो जाते हैं तो वह उनका ध्यान रखना है फिर एक दिन वे संसार से विदाई ले जाते हैं और फिर किसी का नया जन्म होता है। भगवान की व्यवस्था, उसके नियम बहुत सुंदर हैं| अगर जाने वाले जाएंगे नहीं तो आने वालों के लिए जगह कैसे बनेगी। अतः तुम यह फल मत खाओ। सिकंदर वापस चल पड़ा और सोचने लगा कि अब मैं उसे साधु के पास नहीं जाऊंगा फिर वह कुछ और बता देगा और वह शहर के बाहर से जाने लगा तो देखा साधु वहीं बैठा हुआ था। उसने कहा क्यों बच कर जा रहे हो, फिर उसने कहा कि भगवान की व्यवस्था में कोई छुट्टी नहीं है, वह बड़ी ही व्यवस्था से संसार को चला रहा है, उसके शाश्वत नियमों को मान कर अपने सांसारिक कर्तव्य को पूरा करो और अपने धन को, अपने तन को अच्छे और भलाई के कार्य में लगाओ, जनकल्याण के कार्य में लगा और अपना धन और जीवन सफल करो।जब तुम स्वयं को कल्याण के कार्यों में लगाओगे तो तुम्हारे कर्म ही तुम्हारा नाम अमर करेंगे। सिकंदर साधु को प्रणाम किया और वह अपने देश को चला गया।
